I third it, so I have been working on a remedy. People in the US get storm silly, #1, they go out and buy all the milk and bread they will need the rest of their lives to cover them for the 2 days that the storm could possibly put them out of kilter, knocking women and children out of line to get their personal needs met.

Then comes the heat situation. You realize you either don't or won't have when the electric will of course go out: a) a generator b) a kerosene heater c) firewood d) blown in (or blowed in depending on where you're from) insulation in your house e) there is no e f) a gas oven g) a propane space heater h) an undertaker for g and h

So I decided on the answer would be a couple of these fans, and if you point these in our general direction, and send us the heat,I think they'll do the job:

https://www.bigassfa...irectional-fans

Let me know what y'all think, if we get the largest model, it should do the trick...

The neighbour who rents my barn to store his straw in has those big-a** fans in his dairy barn. Those suckers are BIG-a**! Don't know whether they're big enough to move some of that 100 degree heat our way, but I figure every little bit helps...

Weather up-date: looks like we're in for more than first forecast, but they're still not sure as they've raised the total accumulation from 4"-6" to 6"-8". The worst of it is supposed to be south of the Lakes so maybe this storm will blow Bryce Harper or Manny Machado into Philly...

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

By the way tol, what do you do when it gets that hot out? Do you just stay inside when it gets to be around 120? It mustn't get to a comfortable temp at nighttime either...

Air conditioner set at around 75 and some days that feels cold, at night the bedroom ceiling fan is on full, almost take off speed. Fortunately it’s quiet. Chickens are fed chopped greens with crushed ice, no work in the garden after 10am so painting and house jobs take precedent.

We travelled from England, on our first day in Australia it was 110 that was up from 40 when we took off from Heathrow, I still had my winter clothes on when we landed in Brisbane, quite a shock. Never liked cold weather since, when we were living in the UK and waiting for our travel instructions DW was telling me the difference I would feel due to the higher temp, I did not believe her. Now 73 is cold, in the UK 73 was strip off and jump in water weather. Amazing how quick you acclimatise, no way would I move to a cold climate ever again.

Tol needs to send us his warm air. We meanwhile need fans pointed at Canada to give back what they're giving - lol.

Like Bill, we live in some "corridor", too. I'm amazed at how often our interstate are the line of demarcation. West of this road and north of that one must be horrible places to live - lol. Cuz here to the south and east of these same interstates it's never all that bad.

Must be a huge fan along the roads.

our big divide on the weather here seems to be the Ohio river..the humidity from there interacts with the storms in the summer, and in the winter

we have divide hill just north of us. Aline of hills/small mountains that are the northern edge of the mountain areas..between Sixty and my place seem to be the weather holder. It will usually hold it either side that it moves in on and keep it from spreading out. Thats why lots of times Sixty will get storms

and a lot of rain or ice and snow in the winter and this side gets very little. Sometimes it is the other way around tho. Amazing how things work.

For us the weather divider is Hwy 401 to the north and the lakes to the south. No wonder Discovery Channel has a series about the Highway from Hell called Heavy Rescue 401. As you say Bill, it's uncanny how a line in the terrain can demarcate weather one way or the other. North of the 401 is the snowbelt. They can be having a blizzard to the north and south of that highway it might even be raining. I've seen it many a time when our boys were playing rep. hockey as we traveled the 401 a lot in the winter months.

Referring to golf clubs, I've found I play pretty much the same with any clubs I have. Some of my best games have been played with an adjustable iron (illegal club) and a 3W. Once, last year, par for the 9 hole course I belong.

Since I bought those $200 X2 Hot irons in 2017, very good clubs, I really have no desire to buy any more. I have a modest collection of clubs, probably around 100, don't really want to add more. I play the same, for the most part. If I played hickories exclusively, my scores would not suffer.

Some days I play well, some days not well. Equipment has nothing to do with the equation.

It's the Indian, not the arrow.

I play X2 hot with graphite shafts, good control for me and I can be more consistent with them.

Our plant is air conditioned. We have some Big a** Fans anyways, just to keep the air moving. Then when they bought several, the rep gave out coffee cups, well I guess so, it was the least he could do, cheap coffee cups, expensive fans... https://store.bigass...-gear/drinkware

Weather, now that Saturday and Sunday are almost upon us, they've changed from the corridor theme, to the exact meteorological jargon gibberish that we lay people (people who lay or get laid) can now understand even though it's so technical. But at least it's definite and tells you exactly what to expect and when to expect it. These terms include 'could be' 'possible' and 'potential'. I didn't know what was going to happen with the weather, well now I do. I was wishing upon a star that they would finally come out and just clarify it all. Danged if they didn't. Have a look. This means everyone can go to the store and it could be time to possibly buy 4-7 loaves of bread (a loaf for every inch of possible snow) and potentially buy 4-7 gallons of milk (again, a gallon per inch of snow).

https://www.accuweat...rnings/18383_pc

A smart shopper will factor in the wind which could gust as high as 40 mph found by clicking on the orange strip included in the first tasty bite of weather page prediction humor/prototype and dividing by 2 since it's a gust only, then that tells you how many pounds of hamburger or hot dogs to buy. If however you don't have a gas stove, then you must instead buy a pound of peanut butter for every inch of potential snow- high end of scale- and something fizzy to wash it down your throat as you are cursing the weather.

after clicking on the special orange strip (wo ho ho):

https://www.accuweat...rnings/18383_pc

These predictions are subject to change. Two things about the weather predictions are definite, 1st, when snowstorms are predicted, flurries ensue. 2nd, when nothing is predicted, blizzards attack with full fury, corridors be damned.

Around an inch of snow this morning, the BIG snow is looming off somewhere in the west. The garbage man picked up earlier, and I was out at 5:30am putting the cans away, and brushing the snow off the cars. Seemed pretty warm to me, at 30 degrees or so. Felt pleasant enough to play golf, although not likely.

Don't know if I could get used to Tol's climate. I'm most comfortable with golf around 50-60 degrees, no wind and sunny. My usual attire and a windbreaker makes for a pleasant round of golf.

The missus's uncle (by marriage) passed yesterday, age 95. He had a good, healthy fruitful life. She barely knew the guy, and it's like the end of the world. "Cut down in his prime." She was on the phone for over three hours last night notifying her large family about the tragedy. I'm glad I came from a small family. Presently, no family to speak of. When I pass, no one will notice or care, except the missus, and Penny, the Golden Retriever.

To paraphrase the cadence, "Box me up and send me home."

Our local on line weather station reports.

No rain expected, possibility of rain 20%. So we have a 20% possibility of no rain meaning we have an 80% possibility of rain. Or does this mean we will have no rain possibly, that is providing it does not rain.

I haven't spoken much about curling this winter because, well frankly, if you aren't playing, you don't have much to talk about. That said, this week are the District Championships for both mens and ladies teams. They run this in a match play format with triple elimination resulting in multiple events across each age bracket. It's a big tournament with four divisions each and then four events across each division. The finals are this weekend during the mother of all winter storms of course...

With this large format bonspiel occurring, all league play is suspended for the week as the various clubs ice surfaces are needed to get all the games in. I don't have the exact number, but it's probably in the order of 780 games plus or minus. As fate would have it our clubs ice making plant broke down on Tuesday and they lost the ice surface. Now you'd wonder how that's possible with the temperatures we've been having. Couldn't they just open the doors?

I assume that the repairs have been effected by this point and all the necessary rescheduling done, but one wonders what it's going to do for our club's reputation as this has happened two years in a row now! Probably not my biggest concern, but I can see the talk now that a new ice plant will have to be purchased and more major fund raising will be needed. It's tough to keep a club above water with only 240 members and most of them on the wrong side of 70. One wonders how much longer that quaint little quonset hut with the view of the airport will be able to carry on. Good job they managed to save a substantial amount of money last year replacing the base and piping of the rink. Once again, a new roof for the clubhouse will have to wait again...

Just like you would lock into a house loan %, we decided to lock into the weather.gov weather forecast. There are so many, and of course everyone is saying 'Whatever station you listen to for the weather, or whatever website you click on, that's the weather you'll get'... actually I'm the one saying that.

So I have committed and 'locked into' the weather.gov weather forecast now. I must obey and live with their weather now of course for this weekend.

The first own is just Accuweather. They are not as accurate- I hope, why, they are actually saying up to 8" of snow, gusts up to 40 mph, but also daring to say travel could be curtailed. I'll be 68 in March, I've never been curtailed in my life... check it out

https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/newark-oh/43055/weather-warnings/18383_pc

So here's the forecast I decided to make my very own, two separate 1"-3" snow amounts with gusts only up to 39 mph, 1 mph less, much more enjoyable...

https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=40.06034820000008&lon=-82.40967979999994#.XEIKaVxKg2w

Well, the winter weather advisory is now up. The corridors have been delineated. Which means it's suppose to snow tomorrow. It's January, of course there's going to be snow. Good thing I'm on the "right' side of said corridor. Still monitoring developments closely, to determine if a bad dash will be required.

Batten down the hatches Sixty. Appears as though you're going to be slammed. To bad you don't have one of those bigassfans to turn on and keep the drive cleared of snow. Blow it into the neighbors yard.

Heading to the golf dome for some whacks in a few minutes. With this climatic event closing in, might be the last time to hit balls until............July.

Stay oily my friends.

For all you lads anxious to learn your ancestry through DNA testing you might want to think again based on the results that these identical twins got from multiple services no less!

Twins get some 'mystifying' results when they put 5 DNA ancestry kits to the test.

They say for scientific findings to be valid they must be repeatable. It's a scary thought that all sorts of legal matters are being determined using DNA testing in light of these findings.

I am seriously looking at possibly getting a set of F8 one lengths...i am just about totally sold on the method, and i will try a set of them out first.

They are supposedly a fix for the trajectory issues...my long irons are ok..my short irons are a little high..as in they bring rain!

I have never been one to go chasing the perfect clubs..a couple of you guys are giving me the ideas ! The one thing that I have been

considering is ,with the time i have left,I am really wanting to use a set of forged ,good irons. I really want to try this. Had a beautiful set

of Mizzies that were just beyond me..lol . i may end up with Cobra F8 Black Forged One Lengths...hey...my Gramps always said "If its

worth doing, its worth doing right" ! I may have officially become a club ho....now if I can be like Stu,and hit the damn ball with them !

I have said this all along. The consistent length may work for some folks others it may not. If one has an upright swing they may work well. If you have a flat swing like I do then they will not work. Look at Bryson's swing he is very upright. I saw a set of those heads cheap the other night either Maltby or one of the other component suppliers and they were stating stock lie was 62.5 throughout the set.

Wriggs, my wife is the same way... a cousin she hasn't spoken to or seen for 40 years dies and the world is mourning, and like yours, she spends

hours on the phone talking about what a great person they were, how great a life they had, even tho NONE of them have even seen the deceased

for decades. lol...oh well...never ours to wonder why, simply ours to fully comply !

Well it is opposite of my old neighbor in the Upstate of SC. His brother had screwed him out of some money in a business venture. They had not spoken in over 20 years. Well he did go to the viewing and everyone commented of what a nice gesture it was. He told them do not get any ideas. "I only came to see if the SOB was really dead" True story

When I was trucking up there all the Canadian truckers used to call it " Thuuh 401" They also called MacDonald's "Rotten Ronnies"
