Don't care about no stink'in conforming nonsense from the "powers that be" when choosing an implement for shoveling snow.  The double bend, long handle shovel is much easier on the back. Minimizes the bending, adds leverage to the toss.

Then again, why I put a snowblower into play.  To minimize the time spent on the handle end throwing snow around.  Let power equipment do the work.

Got one of them too.  Most often, it takes as much time to get the snowblower out and operational as it does to toss a few shovels full about.  I can push most of it anyway and then just toss the last pass.  That said, on the days when 30+ cm of heavy wet stuff arrives I'm damn glad to have power at the finger tips!

Just received some sad news this evening from my men's league convenor.  My friend Walter that I have mentioned on here several times has entered palliative care.  He likely won't make it to Christmas.

He was the fellow that talked me into joining this league about 4 years ago or so.  He had an immense sense of humor and always had a story to tell as often is the case of individuals in sales.  I will miss him dearly.  A great golfer in his own right and always willing with a helpful suggestion to anyone who would seek out his expertease.

This has been a year of closing chapters for me.  Perhaps it's only fitting that the final vestiges of the life I had in our previous location are now coming to a close.  With each door that closes a new one shall open.  While this isn't clear to me at this time I will look forward to new opportunities as they arise.

@scomac2002  Well said.  Life experiences ending, new ones beginning.  The poet Robert Frost opined:  "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life:  It goes on."  May your thoughts of Walter always bring a moment of quiet happiness.  Of the times that were shared.

.

.

.

.

Lost a good friend of 50+ years in August.  Golfing buddy.  Traveling buddy when we went "On the Road" so many years ago.  Stood up with him at his wedding.  Always made me laugh with his crazy antics.   Entirely to quick from the diagnosis to his passing.  And the last couple months, only able to visit him once do to this pandemic.  Said our goodbyes in phone call.  Just sucks!!  Family only funeral, no visitation to pay my respects.

Tears to my eyes as I compose this.  Stepping away for a moment, remembering the good times.

I will just act like I know who "Gus and the girls" are but for sure, will tell them right away.

And thank you for the warm welcome. How big is this grill exactly, is it finite or do the seats and kitchens go forever into the abyss?

That is one of the difficult things that happens when you get to be our age...people around us passing on. When you are young, you seem to attend a lot of weddings, when you are our age you seem to attend funerals. It can get downright depressing.
