Clubhouse Grille (*** NO LIV DISCUSSIONS ***) (*** NO POLITICS/RELIGION ***)

Recommended Posts

I was well on my way to the low round of the year this morning.  It was well in hand through 7 holes what with 4 pars and 3 bogies.  The the wheels fell off...

It wasn't so much that they fell off as mistakes compounded.  Didn't take my medicine when I hit my drive into the trees on 8.  Tried the hero shot instead of pitching it out into the fairway.  One thing leads to another and next thing you know I have an 8!

Promptly hit me tee ball in the pond on 9.  Shooting 3 now from the tee on a hole I can't reach.  Make that a 6 thank you very much!

+3 through 7 and then +7 for 2 gave me another lacklustre bogie plus round.  Oh well, I guess I'm gonna keep making the same mistakes until I figure out how to play those two holes better.  Then I'll be able to post a nice score with some confidence that I can repeat it.

No use complaining.  It was 23°C at the course!  Unheard of temperatures for November.  It's all kinda surreal as it looks like November.  The sun in the sky is commensurate with November, but the temperature is completely out of season.  I said to the boys that I guessed this is what it's like  during corn harvest in Illinois or Missouri...

If so, I never saw one so big and long. 🙂

Report from snake catchers today saying they are much larger than usual this year and in far greater numbers. We have to be careful as we have the most poisonous snakes on the planet lurking in the nearby state forests.

No idea. But it can come from anyone or anywhere.  Thanks for the prayers.

One way it can spread is via the mail, we use disinfectant spray on all mail and leave for an hour before opening, seems extreme but rather that than catch the virus. Several have been checked back to infected mail.

Nice ride! And nice course and view!

I was just reminded about the story you told of that cart coming off the trailer. One of

the funniest Grille stories ever........though sad at the time.......but looking back.....😁

Wow! Surprised you remembered that. Yep, that was a sad but funny story. And that is the same 1993 cart! Still going strong after a little work from that accident. I just put new wheels and tires on it.

That blow torch is a thirsty piece of apparatus.  Are you heating the enclosure to sauna levels?  In order to continue wearing golf shorts?  Go big or go home.  Cold.  Sweet golf whip though.  Liking the chrome rims.  However, given the apparent ruggedness of the local terrain, surprised it's not equipped with a lift kit and knobbies.

The inquiring mind wonders what occurred during the disembarkment of cart from trailer.  😗

A deep search into the grille or confessions threads might find it but here ya go as it is seared into my memory.

I glanced in the rear view mirror just in time to see the cart slide off the trailer. If I”d of had better reaction time I could have tapped the brakes to stop the rearward direction. I watched in slow motion horror as the cart hit the ground and followed me at 40 miles per hour for a short time and then made a sharp right turn and climbed up a steep roadside bank and rolled in a cloud of dust, shattered plastic and twisted metal. In my brain dead panic, I slammed the car into reverse to back the 50 yards to the scene, completely forgetting the now hidden trailer. Of course it jack-knifed and cut an eight inch gash in the Chevy Surburban’s rear quarter panel. Try explaining all that to your insurance agent! They may have seen a thing or two but…...

I had loaded it at the course and did not have my usual tie down strap. The front wheels fit into a depression and I set the brake and thought I could make it home easily with gentle driving. When I turned off of the highway onto my country road there was just a little bump in the road. I think my golf shoes must have fallen off of the seat and tripped off the set break petal and just after that….. Oh $h!Z!

@scotee  Thx for sharing the story.  Must have been traumatic reliving the day and cascading chain of events.  The runaway golf cart.  Which begs the question.  Why were your golf shoes sitting on the cart seat?  As you were driving down the road.  Like maybe in the back of the Suburban would have a better spot?  To not risk losing your golf kicks.  As you were traveling down the road.  A 20/20 hindsight thing now.
