So to make sure I'm clear, the shoes that really look like an LC5 to the non trained eye are not LC5 and the LC5s are not pictured?

I took a look on Getty images and it looks like the LC1 or Lunar Fire soles with the upper of the LC 4. Not sure why he wouldn't just wear the Fires? Possibly not enough branding

I think we all can tell those are LC4s. Looks like a one-off or a proto made to look like an LC4 from a distance/TV purposes.

 

Really happy for Vegas. Guy has immense talent and injuries have really hampered his career the last few years. Good to see him back in the winner's circle. Guy has an infectious personality. I remember watching him way back at the 2007 US Amateur at Olympic Club. You could just tell the guy was bound for the Tour.

Vegas seems to be a late adopter to the LC4. As recent as May he was wearing the LC3 still so maybe they made him something that looked like the LC4 but had the same feel as the LC3. Either way, what does the LC5 look like?!

I may be wrong but that's a totally different heel than the LC4's? Also looks like 1 piece upper, IMO. Also the LC1 didn't have the ridges or waves or whatever you want to call them in the midsole.

 

I'd guess a 2017 release.

He probably prefers the zoom sole to lunar, so they made him a pair with the zoom sole. I'd bet money those aren't coming to retail. And I'm glad bc they don't look right.

Looking at my LC 1's now, it's the same midsole, he had a similar set up with the LC 3's last year if I recall. Im guessing he prefers the lower platform of the old midsole but Nike wants his look to be current with what's on the rack. Although he just won, Vegas isn't exactly someone NIKE would randomly premiere a new shoe for next year with.

My LC1's don't have ridges or waves or whatever you want to call them. Are mine different than others?

the 2017 catalog calls it Lunar Control Vapor (it is shown in pg1), there is not a pair of shoes in 17' catalog called Lunar Control 5.
