First, the not so good, the changed the double dozen packaging from nesting (like most golf balls) to single flap flimsy box. I only say it’s a negative because I like to use the double dozen boxes for storage in drawers and stuff.

The cover isn’t as “grabby” as the original ksig, but I like it much better than the glossy cover of my original batch. Has anyone else noticed the same thing? Have the K3s been like this for awhile? I think I bought mine around July.

They are different. Even if it's only the gloss cover that was changed, it's not the same identical ball as the first K3 that was released.

Everything the same except the appearance is not as polished/glossy on recent K3 and the markings are sharper in appearance. It is the same construction.

That's the debate. The side stamp hasn't changed so it does not appear there is a "new" 3 piece. There appears to have been some modification to the appearance of the cover, but whatever (if anything) has changed it was not enough to warrant an update on the conforming ball list. It may just amount to an improved printing of the graphics.

Exactly...looks like they changed font and polishing for better appearance.

Cool, thanks. Interesting that these guys seemed to prefer the 3 piece and say it performs more like the Pro v1 than the 4 piece did.

I just called my local Costco outside of Philadelphia to see if they have the 3 piece in stock. They still don’t but he read a few lines off of his computer screen that said they should get Callaway Superhots soon and something called “Greenball”. He had no idea what that meant but I presume it means the three piece Kirkland’s.

I just wanted to come here and toss the name “greenball” on the speculation fire.

Maybe "Greenball" is the code name for the new four piece (probably not, but I wanted to stir things up).

When the balls first came out, Costco followed this thread very closely although I can't speak for now. They were more than shocked by the demand and loved the viral marketing that the ball generated. Someone I knew who supplied a scoop or two on releases but now won't say ANYTHING about new balls, the return of the original KSig etc. said it was the most shocking product they ever launched. They never had a product sell out as quickly or shut down their ecommerce site as often as the KSig. As a side note, they would not let employees buy the balls at the store.

Which Costco if you don’t mind? KOP, Montgomeryville, or one in NJ?

We can keep tabs on them and report back over the coming days/weeks :D

I find it hard to believe Kirkland would submit a 4 piece ball to the USGA that never saw the light of day, so I fully expect to see a new 4 piece at some point in the near future, but the old "Tour Performance" is not on the list so it will not be a reappearance of the original. The question is how will the performance compare.

I like where your head’s at! Costco followed this thread so they’re on to us sleuthing WRXers and threw us a curveball! B)

I really hope they do come back with a 4 piece because I never got to try the OGs. I’d love to compare it with the 3 piece, which I think is one of the best overall values out there...aside from the time at Target I stumbled on a gold mine and picked up a few clearance ProV1x, Srixon Z Star, and Bstone Tour B XS for between $7-12 a dozen!

Kirkland isn't the MFG of these balls but their latest submission to the USGA is not favorable. ___"there is no denying that Kirkland golf balls no longer compete with the best brands in the market. This is probably most starkly evidenced by Kirkland’s own data submitted to the USGA when registering the golf ball with golf’s governing body in the United States.

When a manufacturer registers their product with the USGA, they need to provide their own testing information and the ratings that coincide with the results they found. Kirkland submitted their new golf balls with an M-M rating. To the layman, that means nothing. There’s no way to tell an M-M rated ball apart from other balls just by looking at them. There’s no mention of this fact on the retail packaging. Even if there was, most consumers would have no idea what that means.

Essentially, M-M describes the spin rating of the Kirkland golf balls. The two M’s represent high spin when hit with the driver and low spin when around the greens. Needless to say, those results are less than impressive.

High spin off the driver means that players who tend to hit hooks or slices may notice that the Kirkland balls accentuate those mishits. In addition, players who want stopping power around the green for accurate shots will be disappointed to find that Kirkland balls don’t stop like other balls on the market.

In two of the most important measurements of a golf ball’s performance, Kirkland lags well behind the top offerings in the industry and sits alongside mid-range or low-end golf balls. Not exactly the tour performance a lot of people were hoping for from this budget ball"___[https://wheresmycaddie.com/kirkland-golf-balls/#tab-con-2](https://www.wheresmycaddie.com/kirkland-golf-balls/#tab-con-2 "https://wheresmycaddie.com/kirkland-golf-balls/#tab-con-2")

Yes, Tour Performance was the original Kirkland ball. It is no longer on the conforming ball list so I do not expect to see it again. It has been replaced on the list by a new four piece "Performance One" which we have yet to see.
