Anyone still playing Adams irons?

Stonewalled

Recommended Posts

I still have a set of CB2's at my parents house in Ohio for when I go up there and have time to get a round in. The KBS Tour 90 shafts are too light for me but I do love the heads. This thread almost makes me want to get them reshafted.

And I'm with you guys, the CMB's are one of the best looking irons I have ever seen.

CMBs still in play 3+ years. Those and the Mb2s are the top 2 irons i've ever played. I've owned 745, ap2, apex pro, x forged 13'. etc. CMB are the best feeling and most forgiving muscle back irons i've found. I think i've given up trying to replace them. Although the new JPX 900 tours look filthy

CMB's are gorgeous and great irons...but the XTD Forged beat them out for me. It might be the shaft. I have the KBS Tour 90's in the CMB's and the C-Tapers in the XTD Forged. But I could play either set and be very happy.

And that's not even mentioning my MB2's my brother-in-law is trying out. He's the only person I would sell them to. :)

I have played the CMBs for two seasons now. I have gone thru C Tapers (which I loved the best but kept bending tips), X100s (great but tad too much spin) and now the SPB (Holy $$$$! these are nice shafts!).

In years past I would gone thru at least two sets of irons in that time but I cannot see myself playing anything else.

XTD forged with the RIP Tour Graphite shafts. They bumped Apex 2014 with Recoils in my bag. If you can find a set of XTD Forged with the RIP shafts- go for it!!

A12's showed up today and went directly to the range. Unfortunately, I was hitting off mats, but what a lovely iron. Very attractive and feels great. The offset wasn't nearly as noticeable as I feared. Playing 9 tomorrow to get them out into the wild. So far, so good.

My first real set was an idea pro forged w/ the black gold shafts. Tried the pro gold, idea pro black mb, cb1 and cb2 after that in the next 7-8 years. Played the mb2's this year. Dusted off the idea pro forged and put it in play the last couple of rounds.. Love Adams!

Other adams sets that I tried, but didn't like enough to hold on to - Idea A7 and A4 Tech

Haven't tried A12 pro and CMB yet

I still put my CMBs into play quite a bit. Also have a set of MB2 heads I havent built
[/quote]

I bought a set of the MB2 heads and put it together. Ended up being one of my favorite sets and I was surprised by how long and easy the irons were to compared to cavity back irons

For the guys who bought XTD forged irons or CMBs, where the lofts and lies spot on? Just wondering...

I had CTapers in both the CMBs and XTD Forged. CMBs felt slightly better overall and were gorgeous, but something about the XTDs worked better for me, and I think I actually liked the little click from the XTDs rather than the butter soft CMBs. Either set is a winner though, especially for the price.

I feel the same way. CMB's felt heavenly good. XTD's forged are more clicky but they do a really great at letting you feel and hear when you have hit the sweet spot or not. The feel is different but still very enjoyable. Coming from cast semi hollow irons, it's night and day!

Plus, the sound makes me realize how much technology there is in such a small blade...

How do the CMB's stack up for forgiveness compared to other sets? I still use r7 TP's which I love because they are very forgiving and have a sleek look, long blade length. The CMB has a very similar profile with less offset which I like, but if I will be losing out on mishits I don't think I'd want to switch

R7 TPs were very good. CMBs are better IMO. Softer, smaller blade length and probably more forgiving too because of the Tungsten. The stock C-taper shafts, well... It's a love or hate situation. Some people only swear by them, others don't want to have anything to do with them! I, for myself, love them.

IMO, the XTD forged are a tad more forgiving than the CMBs and about 1/2 club longer for me because of the thinner face inserts. CMBs feel a little better and are drop dead gorgeous. The XTDs are... Just gorgeous.

I've only seen the 6 iron in the XTD set as a demo club in my local shop. Wasn't a fan of the topline IIRC. Looked my blocky whereas the CMB is rounded off and looks smaller

I won't vouch for the XTD's as I haven't had the pleasure of they're comany. but the CMB's I bought heads only were within one degree of specs on loft and spot on with lie angle.

on the hunt for a set of CMBs.. had some credit at 3balls and they did not have any CMBs in stock. Ended up picked a set of burner 2.0 w/ s300 shafts as the credit was burning a hole in my pocket. I know its no comparison, but I've always liked the look of the burner 2.0 (in photos) and 3balls has a good no questions asked return policy if I don't end up liking it.
