The M1 440 is Long AND Forgiving, I'm Impressed!!

Swapped mine out today for the 2016 M2 8.5. Was very happy with the results. Less workable but less effort needed and consistently better strikes. Worth more testing

You did the exact opposite of me. I went from 16M2 8.5 to the 440 8.5.

So far I find the 440 to be more consistent, but it's not as long as the 16M2 was for me. For some reason, I just find the 440 easier to control and it seems to take away the big right miss for me. It's likely the smaller head is easier for me to square up. Don't get me wrong, the 440 is very long as well, just with the 16M2 every now and then I would get a shot that was just absolutely nuked, 350+. I have not seen that so far with the 440.

I bought the 2016 M2 460 Head, and could almost rewrite the post above in observations. This head had some long-bombs in it, but harder to control for me. I seem to have a high right miss with it that doesn’t happen with the 440. Almost like the same shaft plays a bit weaker in the 460 head.

Or, need to set it on the “upright” setting and try again. Else, the 440 is actually easier to control direction wise. Jim

Check my sig - I'm actually back in the 16 M2 after a 2.5 month M1 440 experiment. I really liked the M1 440, I definitely prefer the look of it and I would say it's slightly more consistent than the M2 head for me in terms of fairways hit. I'm holding on to it as a backup head, no intention to unload it for now.

The difference is it's just not even close to the 16 M2 in terms of all around performance and distance. I would say they are equal when both nutted, but I'd be lying. The M2 is longer for me on both misshits and nutted shots - and significantly. That also possibly contributes to it being a bit more wild, it's damned hard to miss the sweet spot even on a terrible swing. So that toe-y or heely shot that might fall out of the air with the 440 and still remain playable, could travel 250 in the air and into trouble with the M2. That's my theory at least from what I've seen on the course.

To sum it up, when I went back to the M2 the first round felt like I had entered a cheat code off the tee.
