REVIEWS: Fujikura ATMOS Tour Spec Testing. Read what member testers say.

Recommended Posts

I did some trading around and have an Atmos Black 6s in to go into a new Epic Sub Zero head. Hopefully it will be a winning combo for me. I have read this thread pretty intently keeping up with all of the information to try and make a decision with which shaft I wanted and I think I will be very happy with the results.

Looking for some suggestions...

I want to try an ATMOS Tour Spec in my Driver. Not sure if I should try a Black 8X, Black 8TX or Blue 8X.

I read somewhere (can't remember where), that Mitsubishi Rayon's Diamana Kai'li played similar to the ATMOS Tour Spec. Well, that's what I play in the Driver, the Kai'li 80X, and I'd like to try an ATMOS.

I game Fujikura's Rombax P95 Extra Stiff in my 3+, 4+ and 5+ Fairways.

I games Fujikura's Tour Spec Speeder 904HB Extra Stiff in my 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Hybrids.

.... With the above information, what ATMOS fits me?

Thanks, WRX!

The Blue will play pretty close to the Kai'li.

Are you looking for it to play the same or is there something you are trying to change?

The Black will lower the launch a touch and spin just a bit less.

Would love it, just to play the same and maaaaaaaaaybe pick up a couple ticks on the ball speed.

I honestly don't think you will notice a ballspeed difference. You may notice a spin difference if you are a high spin player which might equal a few extra total yards. I find dispersion with the Atmos line to be better than with its Diamana counterparts too.

I generate a good bit of spin ... But next to zero launch.

That's what I was leaning towards. Seems consistent.

How is the red 6s?

Red is just as stable and smooth as the Blue, with higher launch and a little more spin.

I heard the new Atmos will be in between the Blue and Red.

I wouldn't be too surprised if that 9x you reference is 'out there somewhere' :-) if ya catch my drift!

I wish they would release a 9x in a blue or red, would make an awesome fairway wood shaft.

Fujikura, whats the difference between the Tour Spec and the new incoming "non Tour Spec" Red/Black ATMOS bundled with the Taylormade M3/M4?

On your website, you do not list a 6TX or 7TX as an option. There are a couple of them on eBay. Are these tour issue only or what's the deal? Any idea on the raw weight on the 6TX and 7TX?

Main difference is stiffness of materials (40T in Tour Spec vs. 30T in standard version) and layup. It is overall a much stronger profile with lower torque.

The TX shafts are like the T-X shafts, fine stepping stones between flexes (1/3 steps, I believe that both are tour issue only however the "dash" shafts appear to be less common).

For example, from softest to firmest;

- 6S

- 6-S

- 6TS

- 6X

- 6-X

- 6TX

The same sequence works regardless of flex, color profile, and/or weight. You can achieve a similar affect by tip trimming 1/3" to move up to the next flex in the above sequence (a 1" tip trim is roughly equivalent to 1 full flex, ie: S v. X). I've tried a great deal of these shafts (in all color profiles and models, HB included) with various tip trims and, IMHO, it's better to leave the shaft stock and move up a flex and/or color profile than to trim (the stock shaft just has a better feel to me for some reason). FWIW; when installing into a FW wood, tip trim 1/2" regardless of the club if you want a "stock" flex/profile for that shaft (obviously trim more/less if you're looking for something different). Make sense?

Great info I’m playing a 7tx driver and 8tx black to fairways I would say your right on the money. I really wish they made the blue in a tx. Really like the atmos line it really fits me well.

I haven’t seen the tx in any other colors then black have you?

I have seen the T-X and the TX shafts in Blue, they pop up on eBay from reputable dealers from time to time. I don't recall seeing them in Red but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.
