Jhonny Vegas' Mizuno MP-18 irons: 2017 Masters

Recommended Posts

I do like these , not sure which I prefer though MP4 or mp18

The 4's :)

What goes around comes around, lol

I'm gonna pick up a set of 4's-

THOSE are on the level of the 14's, 29's & 33's(I loved the 37's and everyone chirped that they wanted "another 14," so Mizzy gave it to em and the same guys who never bought or bagged a 14 never bought and bagged a 37 and they died a quiet death, lol. I'd bagged the 14's for 12 years and moved on to the 33's and they were easier to hit than the 37's. That's why I moved from the 14's to the 33's- I was getting older and starting to suck and the 33's made me feel good about myself. The 37's?? Not so much ;) )

Have a great day Gents :)

Richard:

Give me a few weeks after these are released, and I will give you a complete "head to head" comparison between them and my 4s. I love the 4s, but I just have a sense that these are going to be pretty special. The 8 iron looks "different" in shape in the limited views these pictures provide. If mizuno would make an MP blade, with all the feel and performance you would expect from it, with the sharper, more angular shaping of the new JPX900 Tours (albeit smaller/thinner), then they will have made the modern MP14s.

Give me a mizuno blade with smooth lines from the back and sharper lines from address, and I will be smitten!

I really like them.

However, I wish they made the PW with a more traditional loft. People who play blades aren't hackers. A 46 degre PW? Why?

Why not 48 or 50?

This "loft creep" on the blades is killin me, lol

All the Best,

Richard

The only blade I've ever hit was an MP-5 6i, and I didn't find it the least bit intimidating. The other day I was in my club's pro shop and they had a bag of 3 irons for sale. In that bag was an MP-4 3 iron. Being a Mizuno fan boy, I could help but have a look.

Good god was that thing tiny! I probably shuddered in terror just looking at that club in the address position, never mind having a ball and a shot to make with it...

All of that said, if the MP-18 is sized more in the MP-5 mold, I would much prefer the 18 to the 4.

They look nice but the MP-5's have it all over them in the looks dept.

the MP5 pitching wedge is probably the worst looking club I've seen since the Cleavland VAS. It's truly shocking that they can make a blade like the MP4 and

then come up with that wedge. It looks like something I'd flip eggs with in the morning, not hit 3/4 knockdowns... LOL! Each to their own I suppose.

I'm hoping this line's pitching wedge looks exactly like the 900's wedge and I'll buy them instantly!

Another ex-Nike guy with Mizuno irons. Tiger was rumored to be switching to Mizuno irons I thought. When will Rory be jumping ship from his Callaway irons to Mizuno?

I'm sure Rory tried Mizuno irons and they must not have had a model he liked. Never known Mizuno to create a set specifically for a player like Callaway did with the MBs that were not on the radar for years if ever. Don't think I have ever seen a raw finish on any Mizuno irons even in Japan where they have 10 finishes available. Closest would be one of those 2 swings and the black is gone finish.. Or maybe he will switch irons to match the tournament like he did the fairways to hook the ball more at Augusta.

Wow, i like the look of that blade. Hmm, maybe this is the irons that will replace the Legacy Black in the bag.

How many guys on here think that a players blade or MB has to be chrome? Personally I think I prefer the matte finish of the 900s and some of the custom finishes Mizuno offer on the 4s and 5s from the Yoro wrx dept. Especially the non plated, non gloss. Now I love my BH Apex FTXs but I've been leaning towards the look of clubs right off the workshop table, a little bit of patina over time perhaps, maybe this is blade head blasphemy?

Ive gotta believe that Rory's gig came down to $$$$~

Mizzy just doesn't wine dine and drop big coin on Tour Boys and they pride and reward loyalty as Luke and Stacy both could've jumps ship for bigger money with other OEMs though they both stayed put.

Rory Plays a blade and the thing with Mizzy is that they will go back 3-4 series, ie.,MP-67, 68, 69, 4, etc., if a Player finds an iron that they like better than the current offering, and let's not forget that Rory had the Vapors in the bag!!

The friggin VAPORS?!!!

I just think that with most clubs being clubs, and especially with blades being blades and between these guys and gals natural abilities and egos, i.e., they can hit and Play anything, it comes down to the dollar bill, or a whole lotta them :)

Just my .03 worth ?

Stay well my Friend?

Except Rory isn't being paid any $$$ by Callaway to play their clubs, so your theory has a bunch of holes in it.

No Gregory, my theory doesn't have "a bunch of holes in it," lol

Regarding Rory, it's obviously totally inaccurate, out to lunch and wrong, lol

Regarding others, not so much :)

Most of the time I'm Fairways & Greens, occasionally bunkers & rough :)

So I'm lookin at a fried egg out of a the Devil's Arshole, lol

I'm sure that if Rory stays with Cally(I won't be so arrogant as to assume that this is a done deal) and when pens are put to paper, that if Rory wins, say, 2-3 Tourneys with his clubs, starting with a green jacket, that even though he's being paid nothing presently, there won't be a massive adjustment.

Again, this is just my opinion, and who knows, ya can start calling me "Swiss Cheese" for all of the holes in my hair brained opinions :)

Cute pimp slap though lil guy, it sure woke me up???

Nicely Played?

Regards,

RP

I'm with you. My irons and wedges are are black, and love the look of raw and matte. Unless something crazy happens I'll never play another chrome club.
