Why is pxg on the poll of best exotic? Shouldn't it be here right next to Ping? Doesn't that make more sense?

Also, why are the Titleist irons all here, but the TMB is listed on the same exotic poll?

ITS ALL ABOUT PRICE!!!

The Mizuno JPX 900 Tour are the same price as the Fourteen FH-1000 and the Honma TW727V. So why isn't the JPX900 considered exotic?

Aren't several of these sets also right at that $1,200 price also? iBlades, Bridgestone X Blades, & Apex Pro?

Right there for price with some of the exotics.

Mizuno jpx 900. My favorite based on the feel, looks and my launch numbers. I sacrificed 3 yrds per club length to the AP2's which are great clubs. And the Cobra king's were almost as buttery soft with my favorite black colour scheme. I prefer a contrast colour to the ball.

I should qualify I did purchase the jpx 900 tours with a combo jpx forged 4,5,6. Had the 5 weakened to 25 and the 6 weakened to 29 to flow with the tours as my fittings didn't show yardage gaps just wanted the extra help in the long irons. The muted look and beveled sole greets my eye pleasingly.

Hope they bring out a black version of the jpx line. Cobras are badass.

Sound, feel, trajectory, style, size is how I evaluate my irons.

Mizzie JPX 900 Tours are easily the best irons out there right now in terms of blending feel, forgiveness, and the ability to shape shots.

1. iBlade - destroyed every other iron I tried in all categories. Looks, sound/feel, simulator numbers, etc... They're fairly forgiving for the category, but there's a sharp difference in feedback and results between purely struck shots and mis-hits. I've found the ball to jump off the face and have a stable and penetrating flight (some WRXers have complained profusely about excessive spin and higher trajectory than they'd like). Coming from 712 MB in my 7-PW, I don't feel like I've lost any workability...easy to flight down and draw, but I have a little trouble hitting an exaggerated fade. In the longer irons, I'm coming from 712 CB in 3-6...iBlade is remarkably more playable and a little longer. My two hangups were that they don't say Titleist on them and they're not forged. While I still do miss having a one-brand bag, I'm totally over the forged v. cast saga.

2. 716 MB - I'm big into the shape on Titleist irons. Even with my beloved iBlades in the bag, I do miss looking down and seeing that familiar shape. The lines are a little sharper than Mizuno, which I personally like.

3. 716 CB - Same reasons as above, plus putting tungsten in the heel and toe make it as forgiving as previous AP2 irons with the look, sound, and feel of a forged CB. A combo of 716 CB/MB is the only other iron set I'd consider moving to from iBlade. It's not that I think the Titleist irons are head-and-shoulders above other OEMs in performance...I just think they are all so similar that I'd always go with the shape/look that I like the best. However, as I said above, iBlade performed much better for me when I was in the process of getting new irons.

Just went to a demo week during the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head and tried to hit everything I could.

I thought the AP2's were a good all around performer. Not the longest or straightest, but solid. I actually prefer the 714's over the 716's though. I did like the CB's, but I need a little more forgiveness.

The Apex Pro's were very nice. They were one of my favorite irons to hit. Could work the ball, they were longer than the AP2's, and I liked the look of them.

For whatever reason I just didn't like the JPX900 Tours. Finish rubbed me the wrong way, so we didn't get off on the right foot from the start, but I just wasn't impressed with them. Maybe I shouldn't have hit the MP's first, because I really liked them.

Ping iBlades were a nice surprise. Felt really good for a cast club and I could work the ball well with them.

TM P750 was OK. Pretty long, but I didn't like the feel of them as well as some of the others.

I was only able to hit the Srixon's into a net, but I must say they felt like butter and my numbers were excellent. Can't hit fat shots off a carpet though, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. ;)

The biggest surprise for me was the forged Cobra irons - both the blades and the CB's. Terrific feel, good forgiveness, long and workable. The blades had the C-Taper shafts and the CB's had the KBS FT shafts, which I drew quite a bit more than normal. I wanted to hit the CB's with either the KBS Tour or the C-Taper shafts but they didn't have any on hand. I think that would be a killer combo.

If I order a set, I would have to do something about the orange paint though..........:(

I've been researching all of these as my Adams A12pro gamers are getting a little long in the tooth.

-- For looks and desire to play. It'd be one of the Mizuno's (MP5, 900 tour). Just don't get the numbers I need with any shaft combo.

-- Second on the looks and desire to play are the Srixon (7 and 9 series). Good lord I wanted these to be the answer the dispersion was just to all over the place compared to the others.

-- The contenders for me right now. Apex Pro, AP2, Taylormade 770. For me I am getting the kind of numbers I'm looking for and dispersion I am comfortable with. Just really prefer the forged feel over the CF16 and AP2. So unless the numbers are better for the Apex Pro it will be the 770's. I just don't think people voting have had a chance to try the 770's. Never had or liked Taylormade irons but these are hitting all the right buttons for me. They look and feel best of these contenders.

I've hit the JPX 900 Tour and am considering buying a mini-set of 4,6, and 8 irons. Typical Mizuno feel and very consistent distances. Very pleasing to the eye as well.

The Srixon 965 series and 765 series look nice, but I can't find them anywhere in North Jersey to try for a demo, nor does it seem one can buy individual clubs.

Not listed here for voting, but the irons I might buy over the Mizunos are the Wishon 575 MMC model.

Wilson Staff FG100's if you must have a true blade. Feel is soft when pured. Shaping the shots are a joy, and although they look intimidating to play are surprisingly easy. V6's are just as smooth but are ideal for someone who needs a tad more forgiveness. Two highly underrated and overlooked irons.

If only the 100's came in left< wow are they a gorgeous club! hands down the best looking club out there.

yep...lots of reviews and comments have them as the sexiest clubs in the last few years

716 CBs. I play them because theyre the best irons I hit overall. Also using Jordan Spieth to justify that AP2s are player's irons is just not really making sense as the common consensus on Tour is that he's the worst ball striker in the top 100 OWGR by a lot. I would think Dufner is a much better "poster boy" for AP2s. But I still think if they're behind the CBs and MBs and the long irons are as big as they are they just can't be players irons.

I am currently playing the Wilson V6 (3-PW) and Tour 100 irons (3-PW). Sometimes each set and sometimes a combo of the two. These irons are underrated and under appreciated! People need to check them out! I had to get them special ordered into Canada.

Pros

- Soft

- Decent forgiveness (relative to split cav/blade style)

- Look absolutely amazing

Cons

- Hard to get (Canada)

- Not a fan of the stock grip (This is personal and easily fixed)

To note: I came from Mizuno MP-33s (3-PW).

I have a very simple way to determine the best players irons. I created a spread sheet that compares the offset of all the players irons. I did this back in 2016 so there are some older models. But, that said the Cobra KING MB irons have the least amount of offset and therefore the cleanest lines in my opinion. 94f78e76671060bc4c78cdb3494eb5cf.jpg

Bit harsh re JS, his GIR stats are normally really good. Granted you can hit it literally anywhere on the face of an AP2 and it goes the same distance.

the three choices I chose were (in no particular order):

- Taylormade P770: Forgiving, forged, easy to control - longer irons are easy to hit and the tungsten pad allows for better launch, where the lower irons are easily flighted down.

- Taylormade P750: Forged, extremely soft feel, easily workable - the sound is distinctly forged blade in a more forgiving cavity back. launch and flight control with these irons is exceptional

- Srixon 765: Forged, extremely forgiving for style head, exceptional distance - one of the best irons on the market despite the low market share of Srixon; dark horse in the field that deserves more respect amongst the big boys

Actually Spieth's ball striking is regarded as underrated and very good on tour, and that's coming from a current top 5 player off the record. AP2 are definitely players irons. No argument about it. The fact that ap2 are 3rd largest for Titleist doesn't mean a thing and tour use does say a lot.

Can't understand how anyone can vote for the Srixon Z765's. Long and mid irons are fine (and similar to the 745's) but from 8 iron to PW they look like massive pizza dishes! I'm a 745 player and I went out and bought back up set of the 745's (brand new!) because they are so good and the 765's look SOOOOO bad!

Srixon 765 (Nippon Modus S 120 shaft). They are long, good looking, and very workable IMO. Great for knock down shots, can hit some bullets even with the higher irons. I've been very pleased with the performance so far.

Good looking? C'mon man! They just aren't. When you see what they could look like (ie the 745's), sorry man, they stink!

I don't feel qualified to vote, as I haven't hit the majority of these clubs. The guy my daughter takes lessons with is a Callaway staffer, he let me mess around with the Apex Pro irons, and all I can say is wow, those are some really nice irons. Been a Mizuno guy for years but I might have to switch when I get my next set.
