Ian Poulter this week

He's going to play great this week, I just know it! You could tell how hard he was trying on those final holes last week. I for one will be rooting for him.

I'm kind of Poulter-agnostic but as it pertains to this particular event if he's played it before I'd check to see what his results have been.

Poulter has only played this event once in the last 5 years, finishing T37 so not really enough of a record to gauge how he might play this week. But he has extra motivation for sure.

I want him to stay.. He's entertaining. Yeah some of the stuff he does annoys people but who doesn't have their own tics.

 

People found a reason to hate on Adam Scott for example.

It's not a big deal to me whether he keeps his card or not, but I am enjoying watching him have to hustle for it. There are people in this world who need the occasional piece of humble pie to keep them from being completely insufferable, and Poulter might just be one of them.

Well, in all fairness, Poulter is way better than TW anymore.

I thought it was a nice gesture to include Tiger in that sentence. Perhaps not quite as humble as Reed who included four other players, but still nice. I like people who think of others.

And, while I always thought IJP Design was a bit goofy, having to shut down a venture like that isn't easy. He could use some good news me thinks.

Card or not, Ian Poulter wont have any issues getting into any non-major tournaments for the rest of the year through sponsors exemptions. And if he plays decently at all, he'll easily finish in the top 125 in the FedEx Cup, which will give him playing privileges next season.

 

Hell, he could go back to the European Tour and play pretty much whenever he wants too. He'll be just fine.

I worry less about a guy's family and livelihood after he's built an extra garage to house his Ferrari's. We're not talking about some guy trying to keep his job at the local factory.

I think he's kind of obnoxious, but there's no law against that. I'd never pull for anyone to lose their card. Man's gotta eat, y'know.

 

Just an observation: Poulter will never have trouble financially. However, if he loses his card, that potentially clears a spot for a young pro who really does need to eat. :)

Personally I'm not a fan and would probably prefer to see that spot go to someone else, but I certainly don't feel strongly enough to pull for him to lose. If he pulls it off and managed to keep his card good luck to him.

Of course he can and very well might. But there are only so many sponsor exemptions and if you're a vet struggling to make cuts you might end up in line behind a young up and coming pro or local hotshot.
