As I mentioned previously, I had an recent order with LGB where 17 of 48 5A balls were not 5A quality. There were large brown scuff marks, large player markings, etc. So 35% of the balls in that order were less than what LGB claimed as far as quality.

 

Today I received an order from GBD and 60 5A balls were all of 5A quality. No scuffs, no browning, no player markings.

 

So it's GBD hands down. GBD has better pricing, faster shipping and delivery, and the balls match the expected quality. As far as LGB, I'd purchase new balls rather than deal with them.

I use to order used/refurbished then I started ordering quality balls in bulk and the difference between new and used is substantial. Needless to say I only play new now.

My RBZ urethane came in today from GBD. Perfect condition. Can't even tell most have been hit

After no issues with LGB for years, the last 3 orders have had quality/wrong ball issues. I am sending back my entire last order. I'll eat the shipping cost but this was probably my last attempt with LGB. I have seen a noticeable drop in quality over the last couple of years.

They will replace the crappy balls they send you, but who needs the hassle? Just send what you promise in the first place, sponsor here or not.

I bought a bucket of 48 5A 2021 Pro V1s as a test of their quality earlier this year. I got a 20% coupon code and free shipping, so it was an excellent deal.

 

Out of the 48, I had 11 that were scuffed (and one that read 'refinished'). The other 37 looked brand new or very nearly brand new. I emailed them back the day I received them with a photo of the 11 that were sub-par, and they took care of it from there; I had another box of a dozen 5A Pro V1s there on my doorstep about two days later. All 12 of those were pristine. Things can fall through the cracks; that's fine, but customer service is there for such incidents, and theirs was excellent.

 

I am thrilled with their customer service and their product so far. I would buy from them again with zero confidence issues in the future!

Neither can tell you how long their balls have been under water. No point in buying used when so many DTC ball pricing similar, buy new. The DTC balls in testing is right there with every premium ball anyway, you are paying for marketing and pro handouts.

I had the same experience. I bought 48 chrome soft x balls and about a dozen were scuffed. I took a picture and was sent a dozen.  Customer service was excellent.

From lostgolfballs…

Bad luck on 48 5A ProV1s last year through eBay. Lots of bad ones. Then bought from their website and they were all good. 
 

Bought 72 4A ProV1s because I remembered I suck, and they’re basically what you’d expect. Lots and lots of good to great quality balls, but lots of logos. 
 

For playing at times that it matters (tournaments, with clients, etc) I would say go 5A or new. If you lose a lot of balls (I’m an 18 hcp with a wild a** driver) the 4As are an awesome value. I was out the door at roughly $1.25 per ball. Literally 25% of the new cost.

True. Just passing it along for those who care. But, I wouldn't get a used ball when there are so many deals out there on new ones - especially this time of year.
