2017 M2, ordered D2 received C6

So I ordered a 2017 M2 about 2 weeks ago and finally received my custom order today. Ordered at 44.75", D2 swingweight, D+ 60x............received my M2 at 44.75", C6 swingweight, and a W series 60x. However, they called me last week and informed me the closest they could get it to D2 was D3 and asked if this was ok and I said sure of course.

 

I was going to get it hotmelted either was but is it even feasible to add 12g of hotmelt to a driver? Lead tape is definitely out of the question.....

 

Also i've been driver less for 2 weeks now and if I return it to get fixed/ a new one can they fast track the order? Anyone have any experience with their customer service? I am going to go back to where I ordered it tonight and see what they can do but i'm going away in just over a week and need a driver lol.

Eh I had the same issue... My club builder was worried about hotmelting due to the carbon head... We added a crap ton of lead tape to the back of the back of the club and it feels so much better. He added like 2, 2.5 inch strips stacked on top of each other right along the geocoustic crap under the lip of the crown... I honestly was against doing it.. I don't like the look of lead tape on a driver... but it really did help the feel, weight and sound of the club.

 

TM customer service sucks. They also told me that it wouldn't be an issue getting the SW back up after ordering it at 44.5.... It came in and was in the high C range as well.

From what I have seen with TM drivers, ordering a specific swing weight is a waste of breathe. They just don't do it. I am surprised they called you to talk about it. Billy bobs has weights for the 2017 heads now if you don't like lead tape. You shouldn't need 12 grams at driver length to get the weight up. More like 9 or 10.

Order the custom weights from Billy Bob's to bring the SW back up. It gets brought up here on a weekly basis. Removed the stock weight from mine and added their 15g version which is perfect.

The heads are so light. I added the 18 gram weight and it is much better now.

Not at driver length. The 2 grams per swing weight point is a general rule of thumb, but at driver length you will see it closer to 1.6-1.7 per swingweight point.

 

Keep in mind you will need to know what the current weight you have weighs to order a new one.

Juat checked out billy Bob's.....15 bucks US for the weight......Almost 50 bucks US for shipping to Canada......95 bucks using UPS lol. For that price I can essentially return the M2 and get an M1 or Epic instead lol

I ordered an 18 gr weight from Billy Bobs today. I have no idea where the clubhead is on my current M2. I weighed it and it was 195 gr, but I have a Tensei Orange 70TX in it at 44" shaft length (plays a tad over 45") and a mid size NDMC..... that shaft is counterbalanced already and with the heavy grip, it's like the head isn't even on the shaft!!!

 

I'm hoping this new weight gets this combo under control.

Ended up returning and reordering my M2....this time at 45.25" to see what they get the swingweight at as they could not guarantee me anything. Most likely will cut it down to 44.75-45 and have it hotmelted as long as the SW is decent.

What the hell kind of service is that from Taylormade? How can they not build any club to a specified swingweight or even get in the "ballpark" of the specified seingweight? Where has the skill of building golf clubs gone? I can't believe some of these manufacturers these days. Not just Taylormade.

I'm sure they can for a Tour head, or a "special" player order, by hand selecting heads/shafts, but let's be real - do you really think a "custom ordered" club called in from Joe Blow at Golf Galaxy is getting hand picked components that will match your specs? They even told him they'd get as close as possible, but couldn't promise anything. And they let him exchange it to boot, trying to get it better!

 

Ping is the King of custom orders, and even they tell you they might not be able to match exactly, will do the best they can, and they will even do headweight sorting if you go through their Custom WRX department, but still can come up a bit off.

Yeah just not even acceptable anymore with all major manufactureres preaching custom fittings. With any woods, achieving proper/desired SW and shaft length are a min requisite in my book. Come on TM...
