Cameron Flow Neck Mallet - Slighter

I've been using a TM Tour Spider for a couple months now and while I love the flow neck mallet and think its perfect for getting putts started on line, I've struggled a little bit to get the speed down from long-range. (DJ, Rahm, etc... don't seem to have an issue, but I think the insert is kind of jumpy). I've always used a Scotty with a milled face and flow neck (Monterey 1.5) and when I saw what Justin Thomas was rolling I thought it was the perfect combination of a flow neck and stable body, but without an insert. The issue was not wanting to take a second mortgage to buy one!

 

I did some digging and found out Tom Slighter at Slighter Golf has done several of these things so I snagged one off eBay and sent it his way. I've done some stuff with Tom way back, but this one really blew me away and I thought it was worth sharing. Plus, on top of the outstanding craftsmanship, you seriously can't find a nicer guy to work with. The communication, response time, flexibility, and just overall give-a-s*** was great to deal with.

 

I've heard some other guys asking why this putter hasn't come to market (which baffles me too), but if you want one, look up Tom!

It took about a week and he charged me ~$350 for the modification, full refinish, the added sight line, and paintfill. Its a Futura X5R, specifically its the older (2015 I think) because it has the SST body/face. The newer models have the aluminum face which feels too soft for me.

Pulling this thread back out. Can anyone who has had this mod done comment on how it compares to the TM spider tour set up - how it frames the ball, gets it on line, etc.?

 

Love how the TM sets up and rolls , but hate the look. I know I know - I should pick function over look, but thinking this may be a good solution.

Thanks. With the costs involved and buying the putter it seems you could get a custom putter with same thing for less..

Are people getting this mod just due to increased popularity from its recent use by Justin Thomas? Or has there been a market for a flow neck mallet with more toe flow that is just finally being realized? Just curious as we all know it's personal preference and whatever fits your eye and gives you confidence.
