Outdoor grass range and on course testing with your gamer ball is ideal. When I’m stuck inside due to weather I always test using my gamer ball. I carry a sleeve of balls and a glove in the car at all times.

Lets all agree they are all good. If any one of them showed up at my door step as a surprise I would not reject them.

It's kinda odd that this thread is quiet right now. Did nobody get a set of these out on the course? I'm waiting impatiently for my set to arrive.

I had to choose between iPhone X and P730. The P730s lost because all of our courses started closing early. I wouldn't have had a chance to play with them, so my order is on hold for a few months.

Based on some testing yesterday, I'm still on the fence between the P730 and the MP18. The performance seemed similar to me, although I was testing indoors and not with my preferred shaft so I took spin, launch, etc. with a grain of salt. Feel on both was very good and based on the picture below of the two in the address position (P730 on the right), I think I'm leaning to the P730 at this point.

That being said, for those of you planning to pick up a set of these, are you planning to go with a full set of P730's or are you thinking of mixing in any of the P750, P770, or P790 in the long irons? My thought at the moment is potentially either doing 3 & 4 in P750 and 5-PW in P730 or potentially 3 in P790 and 4-PW in P730. I just haven't seen a full set of the 730's to see the blade lengths on the long irons.

Tried the P790s but very surprisingly they did nothing for me, on average marginally longer than my Nike Vapor Pros, less consistent distance as you would expect and a clicky feel with the longer irons - some went miles, some didn't and strike felt the same (former scratch now 4 h/c). So took the plunge and ordered the 4-PW P730s on the basis that I'll live with the lack of forgiveness to get the lovely feel and better distance control. Kept the P790 3 iron though bent to 18 as that is a perfect UDI replacement and I know my limits. Report to follow in a week or two when the custom order arrives.

My 730’s came in a couple weeks ago. It’s a truly beautiful iron - but it’s a blade. Not much to review because blades don’t change too much.

The thin line is noticeably thinner than my old 2014 TM MB’s & the face is also a little more compact. Off-set is very minimal. I went with a 5-9 & couldn’t be happier.

My thoughts on the P-730. Of course to each their own. ;)

I have had mine for two weeks now. My Rep sent them my way without me knowing, just bc I told him when seeing the protos I was interested. Personally I prefer the look and lack of offset over the other talked about blades(MP-18, Cally MB, 718). As with any blade, centered strikes are just amazing. The 730's have a very soft feel, but yet a solid click at impact. Just the damn best looking thing at the ball for my eye currently. Turf interaction is superb. Workability, is just great. I am able to flight the ball down and up and left/right when needed.

The 730's compared to my old 14' MB's have a better look at address and feel better to me when hit, I will be honest, I prefer the finish on the 14' MB better, the P730 typical polished/chrome look shows bag chatter. Just hard to accept it, when they are new they look like they should be on the wall in a frame!

My first handful of rounds with the 730's have honestly impressed me.As we know blades are not meant to be forgiving, but my opinion is that with the new design I do not lose as much distance on off center hits as with other offerings. I have gamed the 750's for a bit with the same build and they are great clubs and offer a bit more forgiveness but for me they launch higher and are not as workable for me. Others results will vary. The 730's are going to be in my bag from now on. Taylormade has made, in my opinion, their best blade to date.

This is all subject of course and just my experience.......

P730's arrived and i got out for 9 holes with a extra shots tossed in here and there. I've played three of the "big" four new late 2017 MB's and overall the 730's come out on top over the Mizuno MP18's and the Titleist 718MB's.

They feel better than the other two, turf interaction is the same as MP18 but 718MB's were best in that department for me. 730 overall shape suits my eye best followed by the 718 and then the MP18.

If you're a pure blade fan I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 730's.

Thanks for the review! Regarding the bag chatter, would you say that it is worse or equal compared to other chrome blades, like the Mizuno MP-4?

So far not bad at all. I was told that some early testers were complaining it was worse than others. I do not see that. Soft forging with a chrome like finish is going to become marked up easily.

Bag Chatter for me is the same as all “polished “ looking blades I have had in the past. My 730’s compared to my friends new Cally MB’s are no where as near as shiny or “chrome” looking. The Callaway MB’s glare the sun at times.

Got to compare the 730s next to my 2014 MBs. Performance was near identical, even feel was hard to distinguish. Head size is noticeably smaller in the 730 compared to the MB, thinner top line and less offset (all very noticeable). If these were more brushed I would switch in a heartbeat just do to the address position alone.

  • 2 weeks later...

I absolutely love these irons. They’re so pure and I’ve found them pretty forgiving. I had them built 1 degree strong and didn’t lose any distance at all and actually gained some distance in my longer irons. The C-Taper Tour Limiteds are perfect in these and keep the spin low, not to mention look amazing. Don’t see these leaving the bag anytime soon and will keep dialing in distances on trackman all winter. Here’s a few pics
