During this weekend's club championship I had a lot of moments where I thought, "Yep, I can hit the P730." Bring 'em on! :D

 

Hopefully we get some extended golf season in MN this fall so I can game these.

I assumed that it's just easier to mill an iron in Carlsbad since they don't have a forge there

For prototyping and gathering player input and/or making a one-off set for a player? Milling has significant advantages because you don't need to spend time/effort/money producing a set of dies from which the irons can be forged (which might become quickly outdated as the design evolves).

 

As for milled irons versus forged from a playability perspective, many will argue that a forged head is far superior because of the way the grain structure of the metal has been forged into the shape of the head. Milling an iron from a solid billet means you're just cutting away material and the grain structure will be whatever was in the billet. Is one better than the other in practice? Proponents of forging will argue that it leads to a more solid feeling club than a milled iron. I've never hit a milled iron, so I can't judge for myself.

 

From a production standpoint, it's a lot easier to turn out iron heads in volume when forged.

Should we start a poll how much they will be? Like stated before, if a very limited run I can see the price climbing. Other OEM's the blades are less than CB and other models. Will just have to wait and see.

That P-730 is the best looking set of irons I've ever seen to be honest.

 

And I've desparately wanted a gorgeous TM blade to put in the bag since the 2014 Tour Preferred MB's.

 

I'll be buying the minute they're available for order.

 

I could also easily see the P730's being the iron that gets Brooks Koepka to sign w/ TM!
