Stitch SL1 stand bag

Well the bag does look awesome. The clubs sit really nicely in it. It can fit whatever you'd need to bring with you for a round. The solid base and stand seem quality. But...

... it's going back. I don't like the strap (yes I know it can be replaced if I want to look) and more importantly, I don't like the lack of any handle on the top.

Some pics. All that stuff can go with the bag. And for the chap that asked about the water pocket a couple pics, one showing the water bottle (1l) out and one in.

^The 4UP Stadry doesn't have many pockets and didn't have anywhere for a water bottle. I bought a carabiner and problem solved.

Mine arrives today, looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

The 2018 4up StayDry models have a Pocket for your water bottle. I have one. I’ll get a picture and post

Thanks for the pics. Sorry it did not work out.

Last chance save - if a Jones strap would fit, I think they are great and well-cushioned. If you don't like single vs double, then you are sort of at the end of the road!

Ya I need to see how long the return policy is for, if I have time to source one.

I should be less superficial than this, but is just looks so cool! I really want to like it. But at $300 odd, it needs to be pretty much perfect. I'd not realized how much I use the handle on my bag until I got one without. I was actually at a loss for how to nicely get it off my shoulder.

That is probably the thing I noticed most initially with the SL1 (more when I take it into and out of the car or load it on a golf cart than when I take it off my shoulder). Personally, I think it ends up being an issue more of familiarity than of functionality and that you'd adjust fairly quickly to not having a grab handle at the top.

When something shows up on virtually every mainstream golf bag in the industry...things like stands, then double straps, then grab handles on the top...it's usually a genuine improvement. A lot of the appeal of high-$$$ alternative bags is they "look cool" by NOT including some of the stuff that's nigh universal on mainstream bags. That's the whole point, to have something different.

I'm with friend duffer, if it ain't comfortable and convenient to use the cool-n-unusual factor just doesn't cut it for me. Especially when it comes with extra expense.

The biggest example is leather golf bags. From every possible functionality perspective, technical fabrics are superior in terms of making a convenient and comfortable bag. I totally see the aesthetic appeal and love the look of leather things. But if I've got to put that bag on and off my shoulder dozens of times a round and walk several miles with it the aesthetics are totally lost on me by about the 7th or 8th hole.

While I'll agree that this bag would be nice with a top handle (I just use the top cuff as a handle, I must be a troglodyte), the technical fabric that make up this bag IS superior. It's waterproofing is significantly better than a sta-dry or H2no.

The strap isn't a big deal either. I had the same reservations, but found it to be a complete non-issue. Perhaps it's because it is already an ultralight weight bag and it doesn't have a ton of pockets for you to fill.

Agree the fabric seems excellent and it's stitched together well.

The strap was fine from a load balancing POV - and I included all those things to show the travelling golfer you can accommodate a bunch of gear.

I just didn't even realise how rote I've gotten about putting the bag down, like switching gears (yes I still drive a manual) I don't even think about it. I even went and checked my other bags and saw that, yes they have handles too. So with the SL1, I was all erm, um, how do I get this down, help! help! The bag is stuck on my shoulder ;)

For you guys that use the bag to carry and ride, do you put all your irons and wedges in one half and woods/putter in the other half? Looking for suggestions on best way to organize clubs, especially when riding.

Quick heads up for folks pondering: Stitch has a deal on where you can have one of their Luxe SL1s (those are the $368 bags as opposed to the $320 ones) + a set of headcovers for $299.

Yes it's still 3 bills, but it's the first genuine deal on the bags I've seen from them since I got interested.

The vintage has a neutral more traditional styling and neutral color scheme. It comes in tan or gray with a leather & gunmetal strap /buckle system. The resort is more modern coloring scheme bright colored trims. Other than color differences they are basically the same bag from everything I see.

I think the material from the vintage bag differs from all others. It appears the vintage bag is made of a water repellent type "canvas", rather than the "plastic/rubber" type material on the other bags. I have the white/blue bag, and in looking at close up photos of the Vintage bags, I think it's clear those bags are made of a different material. Looks similar to what you'd find on Sunday bags made of canvas.

Weight schmeight :) They are definitely two different materials. The luxe is the same thing they use for their luggage. Definitely a 'canvas' type material and they do say water resistant instead of proof.

Reckon they'd be nicer day in/day out, but the standard SL1 would surely hold up better in inclement weather?

I pulled the trigger today. The deal was too good. I have been thinking of this bag for a long time at $328 (standard) and liked the vintage grey color better but not the $368 cost.

I called in and asked some question. Yes, the fabrics for the standard/resort vs vintage is different. A little more pliable compared to the normal bag with highly water resistant vs waterproof.

It is basically $69 bucks off the bag + 3 free headcovers. If you like any of the headcovers, it is gravy in addition to the pretty good discount for stuff that is not usually discounted.

For anyone that got in on the current promotion for a resort or luxe sl1, was shipping crazy high? I thought it would be free shipping but when I went to check out it came out to $70!

I canceled my order because of the shipping price

Wow! That's pretty damn poor IMHO. So they did that promotion, but removed the free shipping on $250+ orders?

I checked my mail for any codes and the like for free shipping but didn't see anything.

A little correction on my end, I wasn't paying attention and I went with the resort SL1 and Knits, and the price comes out to $249 so just under the free shipping level. That was my fault for not looking closely enough, but when I called them they were actually extremely helpful and refunded me the shipping costs!

I got in on the current promotion-- went w/ the Vintage Luxe bag and knits, plus $8 monogram. It came to $307 total and shipping was free.

I received the bag today and went carrying for 9 holes on a super-hilly course. I took only 9 clubs, 6 balls, a bottle of Gatorade, my cell phone, wallet, keys and a towel. The whole kit weighed in at 17 lbs.

Having never carried a bag in my golfing life (I usually push a fully loaded cart bag), it was a bit of a shock to the system. Once I figured out the optimal placement for the strap it was fairly comfortable. However, I started to notice some shoulder fatigue after a few holes and I'm pretty sure I'm feeling it in my legs a bit more than I normally would after walking 9. Even though it will take some getting used to, it was a highly enjoyable experience and I'm looking forward to playing this way more going forward!

You're sing muscles you haven't used before (at least with golf) so it's normal to feel that shoulder fatigue your first couple of times. I felt the same way after my first couple of times using a single strap carry bag. It actually made me question whether single strap was for me. Soon after however your muscles get accustomed to it.... now I can't imagine me carrying a 2 strap bag. I have plenty of single strap sunday type carry bags, and I can't see myself carrying anything else. I love it - so much more enjoyable to me.
