Where do you keep your rangefinder?

Recommended Posts

Recently acquired a nice Bushnell Pro X2 but it didn't come with a case. It's walking weather so I keep it in the push cart's net area for easy access. When I'm done I put it in a zip lock bag inside my bag. I kind of wished I had the cover as it is an expensive piece and I'd like it to last for at least 2-3 years. Or until Bushnell comes with a new improved version.

Where do you keep your rangefinder? Always inside the case? Outside the case during rounds then in once you're done?

I use a Nikon Coolshot. i.e. it came with a small soft carrying case. It stays in the carrying case most of the round... However, that carrying case, along with the range finder, stay in the bag 90% of the round. I take it out of the bag, use it, and replace it in the bag after use. 1.) My bag has a valuables pouch that is water proof and lined with felt. So really, the carrying case is not useful. 2.) The few times I almost lost, or forgot where it was, was when i forgot to replace it back in the small valuables pouch. I have found it is good to get into the routine of placing it back where I got it so i always know where it is..

My advice to you though if the above doesn't apply to you, would be buy a small external valuables pouch, where it goes when you are done using it, and back into wherever it was in your bag.

Hangs in the mesh basket on my push cart, and usually stays there unless I take a cart (rarely, except for the occasional scramble or something). Over the winter when not in use I usually put it in it's case.

My case is always clipped to my bag. When I ride I take it out of the case and put it in the cart. When I walk(carry), I take it out of the case when I need it.

This. when I ride in a cart I have a small towel I place the range finder on and then put back in the case after round. You could probably find a case on eBay cheap.

I keep it in one of the bag pockets, the case is damaged, so I will get one for it soon, but it's ok in the bag...if riding it will go in the cup holder...

Why? The X2 should be water proof. If water causes issues you are covered. I've had a 1600 that I have just kept in my bag (no sharp objects in pocket) for over 5 years now with no issues.

I also keep mine in the case clipped to my bag when not golfing, If I'm in the cart it goes in one of the cubby holes. Walking it stays in case. As mentioned above, I'd check out Amazon for a knock off case. I will admit I've had to go back twice in the last 5 rounds to pick my rangefinder up off the fairway. I need to get better at picking it back up after a shot lol

I use a stick it, these are pretty handy and work well http://www.monumentgolfer.com/

The best thing for a laser that's been invented. While playing, I stick it to the A-pillar (think the post that holds the windshield). After the round, it's tucked away into it's own pocket in the golf bag.

@RPryor: Send me an address and I can send you a case.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

The zipper on my case broke a while back. I checked with the guys in the proshop, they had one in the lost and found that had been there quite a while. They gave it to me rather than just eventually throwing it away.

In the cup holder when I'm riding, which is most of the time, and in the clip on case when walking.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
