Playing golf in Vancouver Canada (NO POLITICS!)

Anyone play Northview Ridge lately? I see they have a reduced rate due to a cart path renovation they are doing? How bad/disruptive is it?

I haven't played there in a few weeks but I have a round setup for The Ridge next Tuesday.

I was at Canal Sunday and didn't notice anything while driving by the back nine or 10 tee, 9 green, 1. They were having a tournament that day.

Playing the North Course at Golden Eagle on Sunday for $36. Anyone have any insight on the course, I have never played there thought trying it out at that rate why not.

Is north the longer course? It's not too shabby but it's pretty short. It's been a few years since playing it but the only thing I remember about it is that I wish I had an overhead GPS on a couple holes. I drove one right down the middle on one of the par 5's and ended up in the water which i couldn't see off the tee.

You can play Swaneset after 2 for 36 and its twice the course....golden eagle has sub par conditions but the north is better than the south course

Golden Eagle is a dump. Keep on driving up to Swaneset and don't look back

LOL...they also have a very strict dress code...must wear jean short cutoffs and wife beaters. Oh and you can only use pinnacle golds

HAHA, I did get out and play with a buddy who has just taken up golf about 2 months ago and is showing vast improvements, the course was defiantly short, but for him it was fine. I used mostly 3 wood on most tees, water does play a factor on most holes. It was an enjoyable round due to the fact we played right after a tournament and there was not much of a wait. I was a bit puzzled when coming back to the club house to find the players playing on the south course were not even wearing any shirts. I am all for casual rounds of golf with the boys, but shirtless, yea not my cup of tea.

What a weekend for golf in Vancouver.

Nice pics... VGC?

Played Riverway on Sunday, course was in decent shape albeit a little damp as they were watering the greens during the day between groups.

Playing north view ridge Saturday...anyone know how bad this cart rehabilitation is? Theyre giving a rate drop because of it... green fee is $79.

How was the Ridge course playing. Did construction affect the course itself or just the pathways?

There was no construction on the front but the back 9 was a bit of a mess...didn't really affect play but it was dusty and lots of re routing to get around. The par 3 11th hole was closed so there is a 156 yard hole (if you play blacks or blues) between hole 7 and 8. I would probably just play the canal until all the onstruction is done but when it's complete it will be very nice. The new cart path is all concrete and really wide... like something you would see on a nice course in Scottsdale. A friend ended up getting us on for 49 with free carts so I wasn't complaining.

Had a rare few hours to kill this afternoon so instead of banging balls at the range thought I'd try Nico Wynd in South Surrey. It's a 9 hole executive on the river. Should have just hit the range. Course in poor shape and the tees and greens are all about 10 yards apart. Lesson learned.

I've driven past it enough times but never played....thanks for the info. Going to be playing Furry Creek in a week which I haventplayed for 10 years....anyone played it recently and know what type of shape it's in. Not a real fan of target golf but still kinda looking forward to it.

My buddy played it today and shared some pics on IG. Looked to be in pretty good condition based on the 3 pics he shared.

Met a fellow WRXer last week at UBC driving range and we're going to go play Northlands next Tuesday around 3-4pm? Anyone interested?

Playing this afternoon at my favorite dive golf course in Surrey today, Guildford Golf and Country, I learned how to play there haven't played it for a year now, looking forward to it oddly enough.

Gotta love how Ray's Creek seems to run through every frickin hole

A friend of mine works the grounds there occasionally so I used to golf there a lot on the cheap. So many poorly thought out holes but it holds a weird sentimental value to me. And yes!! ...seems like you're always hitting it over that damn creek. 1, 3, 4, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18. And that's not including holes hitting over other ponds/water :derisive:

Wow exact same sentiment here for good old GGCC. That and Coyote Creek where the first two "real" courses I played on as a kid. Between the stupid creek and the stupid power lines it always made for an interesting round. I haven't played there in probably 6-7 years but it is definitely a sentimental favorite. The par 3s are pretty decent though.

Is that the one that has the free do-over if you hit a powerline? Haven't played there since the early 80's. We went there once back then for an earlyish start on a weekday I think. It was first come, first serve, no prebooking. We got there early but still found that our teetime would be a while and that we were basically third in line for the pool table at that hour! No kidding.

We scratched our heads what to do and headed to the other mostly forgotten course recently mentioned here, Nico Wynd.

Way back then we occasionally would take a day off on Friday and play Seymour on public times. I said then my dream day would be to do an early warmup at Gleneagles (9 holes), hit the Tomahawk for Yukon Bacon and Eggs then catch our late morning teetime at Seymour. We never did that whole number, but those were the days my friends.....

I always get Guildford and Surrey mixed up, apart from both of them always being a marsh when we played them back in the day.

I was remembering when you get out into the corner holes near Fraser Hwy and 15... and then thinking, oh wait, that's Surrey. I don't think we ever got through that stretch without some muppets honking their horn as they drive bye.

I've played both. I really dislike Guildford and Surrey. Both have some strange holes, and are usually quite busy and slow. That being said I probably haven't played either in 10-15 years. Plus now living downtown, no way I'm driving out here to play either of them. I like Coyote Creek, it's a great place to take kids or someone who is learning.

I'm playing Fraserview again tomorrow. Course is in great shape right now.

My old dumpy course that brings back memories would be Golden Eagle south course. Back when I was a broke college kid we used to park way down at the end of the parking lot and just walk on with out paying. They were too cheap to have a starter in the shack on the south course so we would quickly tee off and we were gold. The one time we got busted the marshall pulled up to us on the 6th hole and asked if we paid...we of course said yes. He said look around...see all these woman playing..it's ladies night you idiots. It was an embarrassing walk back to the car but I'm pretty sure we were back the next day.
