Playing the 125 in Stiff in my wedges. (stock with SM7 slate blue) To me they feel and perform like a buttery smooth S400. I would think 125x is going to play like a X100 would, but feel better.

I’m hoping for that

I’m a new member but have used these forums for about 20 years. I come from C Taper S. Just recently purchased 21 Apex MB with the modus 125 X after research from every thread you could think of. WOW are these things good. Launch slightly higher than C taper, perhaps a tad more spin. And SMOOTH. If you’ve been on the fence regarding ordering these, do it. I’m writing this post because one week ago, I needed to hear it. Cheers everyone.

I’m about to drop some modus 125x shafts in a set of p760s. I have played the 125x before and had great results with them. I wish more manufacturers would offer them. I don’t understand why so many of them offer the 105s 120s and 130s but not the 125s? They are a great underrated shaft!

Doing some testing on these too. Almost identical to X100 in flight but feel is smoother.

They're essentially X100 Lite. Softer and lighter, but a similar profile

I hard stepped mine once so same raw length and they are 129.5g vs 130 so pretty similar, Profile is very similar but the freq slope is a little different. They are (125x HS 1x) a couple CPM stiffer in the long irons vs X100 straight in and a couple CPM weaker in the 9 iron

Modus 125 HS 1x 4-9 iron freq is 324-354

DG X100 4-9 iron freq is 322-357

Interesting. Yeah the x100 has a steep slope. I don't view it as flighted but some might.

S3 has the 6 iron shafts for both. CPMs are Modus 345.59, X100 348.41.

Yup but the numbers are skewed slightly because the raw blank of the modus is 1/2” longer so it’s really almost identical in cpm

I believe I’ve found my iron shaft for awhile. I’ve been in and out of the 125x and just a absolutely love them. Smoother feel than the x100. Similar flight but no ballooning like I’d see with the x100. Definitely a little lower spin and tight dispersion. The 125 just seems to fly under the radar for some reason. I’ve tried all the modus line and the 125x is definitely the shaft for my swing. And it matches very well with some 125 wedge shafts too.

Yeah it's a little softer in the handle but otherwise is about as close to X100 as is available. I'm surprised Modus is the first one to do it. They're certainly my two favorite iron shafts. Modus doesn't just have a wedge shaft that fits well too, the Modus 105 is a similar profile and would do well in a long iron or hybrid for a 125 user

So what are 125x players using in their wedges? Maybe 125s? or S400?

I actually have 125s in my 53 and 58 deg Vokeys cause the don’t offer the modus wedge shafts. I have been using the modus 125 WEDGE shaft for years though and love them! Very similar to an S400 for me. I originally planned to reshaft my Vokeys but to be honest don’t feel too much difference.

yup debating trying the 105 or the new 115 when it comes out in the driving iron, they are 112 and 119.5g respectively and same profile as the 125

I'm about to give the 125 a go, coming from Oban CT125x, and CTaper 130x before that.

Any history on $ or C Taper vs Modus 125’s? I played the CT the last number of years until giving a $ Taper a shot but was either feast or famine with the long irons. 7 iron to PW I liked.

I had a hardstepped 105x in my 2 iron. It was a quite a bit softer but had good results and the same smoothness. If you hard step the 125s you're going to want to hardstep the 105 at least once. No experience with the 115 tho, sorry

X100, more specifically Dynamic Gold, is more butt soft and mid-section stiff. Modus 125 is stiffer butt and softer mid. I have coined the phrase "KBS Feel, DG performance" when referring to Modus 125..

The profile IMO, aligns closer to KBS Tour but I find 125 to be easier to flight lower than KBS Tour and spins less for me. KBS Tour in the wind tended to balloon on me.

Returning after my late March Review of these - they turned out to be too soft. Loved the patented Modus Feel, but these spun way too much and went way too left after regaining the swing after the long winter. Ended up going back to C Taper S then to PX 6.5. Hopefully trying the Tour V TS 125 S+ soon. The chase continues…
