Who is the best club fitter in Calgary? I had a fitting at Modern last year and was disappointed. Looking to change my irons this season.

I'm curious, what didn't you like about Modern Golf. I have referred two people there and they were happy.

Maybe my expectations were high in terms of what a fitting is. I think the guy I had was new. He was a nice guy but all he did was pass me different drivers without any recommendations or feedback. I felt like I could've gotten the same experience going to Golf Town and just taking a bunch off the rack and hit them back to back. I had to ask him specifically about different shafts. Some of the shafts I wanted to try, they didn't have the adaptor for the head I wanted to try it on. He didn't make any recommendations like changing shaft, loft, adjusting weight, etc. after I found a head that I liked. I was hitting driver pretty well at that time and was hoping it would've really been optimized.

I always enjoyed playing Land O' Lakes when I was younger.  Picture Butte, Magrath, Paradise Canyon, and Taber too

I spent about an hour in queue and by the time I got through the times I was looking at were gone.

It’s too bad that they have this problem every year since reopening. I find it easier to just wait a week before and then book. I do love the courses and this was only a minor set back for them. 
I wonder if other courses will open this weekend beside the track? It’s gonna be a nightmare out there for the first weekend.

I’m guessing the Edmonton area is at least 2 more weeks away, that 4 inches of snow last week did not help.

Played the track yesterday in 1 degree and 30km north winds. Played from the tips. Shot 75. Was happy with that! Greens actually rolled nice!

I was surprised how good the greens were. Really looking forward to playing that course more. Second year under new ownership and the course was in quite a state of disrepair after Windmill ran it into the ground. The new owners seem committed to get it back up to snuff. 

 

We didn't finish, pace of play was garbage. Teed off at 3:55.

Yah greens were great actually! 
 

ah that sucks. No one out there when I played. The 3 guys I got paired with bailed after 9 as they were to cold. I finished in about 3 hours

Played the track yesterday. Tees off at 256 and was done by 8. Long round as the place was totally full. The greens on some holes were really bumpy. Why can’t people fix ball marks?!!! Played ok but 3 penalties and a few bird lip outs were tough. Considering I haven’t really swung since October. Lots to build off. My ltdx ls stuff is low spin. Wow

I fixed about 5 per hole. 

 

This is an area where courses that have an effective starter can make a big impact. All they have to do is say "pace of play is 4.5h, pins are FMB, please fix your ball marks and one other, if you don't have a divot tool I have some in the starter shack"

 

That's it. And it makes a huge difference.

When I played it was much slower obviously due to the weather but the greens were great.

Played Speargrass today with the wife. Man that place is good. The greens are unreal already, quick and smooth! 
 

made 6 birds and shot 73. Slow start and was windy for the first few holes before it calmed down to a manageable breeze. 
 

game feels good early!!

River spirit is out there, also elbow springs, can make the trek to redwood meadows

Still two/three weeks out for me.  Grass on the greens under the tarps is still dormant.  With the cold weather coming this weekend and next week, the tarps won't be coming off.

 

I'll have to live vicariously through the rest of you
