I attended 2 days at Wilshire CC and totally enjoyed my time there. My takeaway was these ladies are really good and I now respect their talent more than ever. Congratulations LPGA for bringing this tournament to Los Angeles and I look forward to attending again next year.

That was pretty cool, especially Ariya. Bit of an overstatement though on not having a heart if you’re not crying.

 

Still absolutely hate the water dumping on the winner. Now they don’t even shake it or spray while jumping around with excitement, now they just casually pour bottles over the winner. It would be more efficient if they would just give them some five gallon buckets. Oh well, old grump guy rant, good for Moriya

No way I'll ever watch this event in person again (on the weekend) I ended up watching the last 9 at HMS Bounty on Wilshire Blvd. Tough to watch my little niece get shoved around by the rude morons attending the event. I was rooting for Jin Young, but that was a well deserved win. She had a couple fortunate bounces coming in, but you need a bit of that to win with the talent level.

Congratulations to Moyira. Well deserved win. I’ll tell you this, watch out for the Thais. There are several more just chomping at the bit to get their foot into the LPGA door. Not only that, their junior program in Thailand is very strong.

OK, I'll admit it, there was definitely tears in my eyes. I think they started when I saw Ariya. I believe we sometimes forget that these are young people out there trying their best, even when they're dished endless plates of heartache. On a day when Inbee was lipping out, and Jin Young was putting herself in a hole that she couldn't quite climb out of, Moriya was as solid as we've seen her. The win was a long time coming, but certainly worth the wait. She had an amazing amateur career, but quickly got overshadowed by her lil sister. I'm glad she got her moment in the spotlight. I certainly wouldn't be shocked to see her win again soon.

 

Congrats to Inbee for reclaiming the World #1 spot. After the injuries of the past few seasons, and entry into the HoF, I think many of us thought she would quietly fade away. Ha! Shows us how much we know. If not for the bumpy poa greens, she might have pulled this one off.

 

'Nice week for Jin Young. I believe she's going to be a top 5 machine for quite some time.

 

Got a little excited to see So Yeon climb into the mix early. Alas, the putter let her down in the end, as it did for many players this week. Those have got to be some of the toughest greens they'll see all year.

 

I thought the course was very good. However, having played numerous old school courses with severe greens, I'm not sure I like them that severe. Is being above the hole really worth a stroke?

The last time I watched Ariya bawling in her big sister's arms were back in 2013 Honda Thailand, when Ariya blew a two shots lead at the last hole.

 

Back then Ariya was an invite and Moriya was a LPGA rookie, I would say they have come a long way.

The updated Rolex rankings are out, and Inbee has moved to #1. Moriya moved up 6 spots to #11, and Jin Young moved up 3 spots to #15.

Wow, so this was a momentous tournament then.

 

Moriya gets her first win. A first win that felt very impending for a long time now and so many wanted to see. So sweet to finally come.

 

And also Inbee becomes the new #1. Now, at the end of last season, it had looked like it was going to be a back-and-forth battle for #1 from a few players who'd been doing great, maybe So Yeon, Lexi, Sung Hyun, Ariya, Shanshan. They've had pretty average seasons this year though. (so happy So Yeon showed some vibe here) But Inbee has been strong, getting back to her old self, that she hadn't really been in 2017. So will Inbee be the first to get a firm lasting grasp on the #1 spot since Pax Lydia? Why, right now we could be standing at the mere beginning of Inbee's long royal reign.

 

Though Argonne has said this has been a topsy-turvy season, and it has. Pernilla kind of exemplifies it. So who knows. But if no one gets their acts together, who will be threatening Inbee?

I wouldn't say that Ariya has had an average season to date. She's 4th in CME points, 5th in total earnings, and 6th in scoring average. She has 5 top 10's in 9 starts, including a 2T, 3T, 4T, and 5T.

 

Shanshan is 4th in scoring average, and has 3 top 10's in 7 starts.

 

Of course, compared to Inbee and Jin Young, most players are looking fairly average.

I have seen a picture of his niece...I assume it's the same niece...the girl looks maybe 14-16...not even close to the drinking age of 21 in Cali.

 

He and I like to raze one another and poke fun at each other's expense.

He may have taken his niece on Saturday and got fed up with all the the rude and pushy fans and decided to go on Sunday on his own and went to the HMS Bounty on his own.

fanofseri is a stand-up guy, a gentleman and pure class...I know 100% he'd never take his niece to an establishment that she was not allowed.

My daughter just turned 21...she looks about 15, and still gets asked where she goes to high school! Remember what Felix Unger said about assuming :)

 

As for the bar, never been but there have to be better choices in K town which has some of the best Korean food in the country...and some really good beer/sports bars as well. You do, however, have to have a fairly adventurous palate.
