Anyone using a shaft that’s 4+ years old in a newer driver?

Ping G with GD YS 7+.

 

The YS line is just...perfect.

 

Still playing the YS-6+ shafts in my driver (917D3) and one of my fairways (TEE EX9 Tour). Those are the newest clubs I own, other than the EX10 Beta I bought myself for Christmas (which may soon have a YS-7+ in it!). Also have YS-hybrids in my 909h's. They just work for me, and feel good doing it.

I'm currently switching back and forth between a Fubuki Tour 70x cut down (butt end) to play 43.5" and an Aldila RIP Alpha 70S cut to play 45" in my '17 M1 440 head. The Fubuki is more accurate usually, but when the swing is on, the RIP can't be beat for ball flight/run-out/total distance.

 

Of course I also am in love with a 7.5* Ping Tisi Tec with a 43" ProLaunch Red in it - can't seem to miss a fairway, takes away my big miss (a block right) and not too much farther behind either of the other 2 combos. I think the smaller head and shorter shaft helps me close the face easier so the swing feels more natural, like I learned the game with.

Plenty and newer versions of some of older ones prolly arent changed much....a paint job and tweak

 

Have no problems if shaft works it works....I stop worrying or caring why or how old it is at that point, lol

 

I too was a fan of rombax and had chance to get one when I went back to store someone else snagged it already

I've got an original fujikura speeder 652 in my M1 440 head. Also have an original speeder 869 in a backup 3 wood (Aeroburner)

 

Any suggestions on more modern shafts with similar characteristics?
