I once tried to claim that the package coming was a present for her and not to snoop. I got her something else to cover it up..

I once won the shortest drive prize at a charity scramble. Last hole of the day so I figured I'd try to smash it. I got way underneath it and damn near missed it. The tee went further than the ball. Had no idea it was the shortest drive hole until I saw a marker about 10 yards further up from where my ball ended up.

 

Nothing like the walk of shame to claim that prize :blush:

A confession and also a not so passive brag.

 

Playing Medinah #3 and there is a double tee box. I've been hitting the driver well and the caddies go down the fairway to forecaddie. Who walks up on the "other" tee but Michael Freaking Jordan. yes...that Michael Freaking Jordan.

 

Going to impress him with my prowess and smashed the ball about 58 feet. Jordan turns to his friends, laughs and says "I'm playing like he is today."

 

So I now tell everyone that Michael Freaking Jordan said I was as good as he is.

$50 gift card for the pro shop. I'm actually still hitting that same driver but it's now one of my go-to clubs. That year was a rough one for me with driver.

I once ordered a box of golf balls with custom printing on them.

 

They read simply: "If found please call <friend's phone number>" along with his name.

Everyone knows everyone at our club so he had a few people going up to him at the bar telling him they found one of his balls.

 

He had no idea what was going on until I finally fessed up at the end of the season and showed him one of them.

I line up my putt with the line on the ball...then leave the ball position line-up and then finalize my line-up based on instinct..

I move my ball away from rocks, bald spots, and roots that might damage me or my clubs.

I grumble about losing a ProV in the water...when it's one I found in the weeds and didn't pay for.

sometimes I have a beer (swing oil) when hacking around...sometimes it doesn't help.

I fix more pitch marks than I make, expecting the resulting karma to repay the favor during the round.

( hey look, I lost a B330 ball and found a "Kro-Flite", must be my karma at work.....)

I have old clubs (for golfwrx this is a cardinal sin)

I keep test-driving new clubs knowing they will be more forgiving and a better fit than the irons I bought last decade, but just can't pull the trigger.

Last weekend I spent 2 hours driving and 8 hours hiking vs. being at the course...uggh.

While I should, I don't call out folks for leaning on their clubs in hazards....mainly because they end up blading the shot across the green into a trap anyway.

I love to carry a minimalist set of clubs at my regular track. But if I know I'm going to play a course with some decent steep hills that roll out, I will bring my push cart. I love to let that thing go and see how far and fast it will go. And if it crashes and clubs go flying, even more awesome!

I've been so disappointed with my season that I went to a hypnotherapist, twice.

I post my scores when i play solo. I mean it's not like the guy(s) I played with follow me into the club house and makes sure I post the "right" score anyway....or verify my online updates.

On cart path only days I sometimes drive the cart into the fairway to my golf ball.(high ground only)

About 8 years ago at my former club my Saturday group and i showed up at the course thinking we could get out play 18. Come to find out there was a scramble tournament going off and we would have to wait. Rather than turn around and go home, we grabbed a few carts and instead of driving out to the range, we decided to mingle with the group of carts for the shotgun start. Of course we helped ourselves to the free refreshments and food being offered. We ended up getting pretty drunk and won third place. Fortunately, my buddy Wayne knew one guy in the tournament and no one suspected a thing.

 

This takes the cake - we got invited back the next year.

I don't pay attention to my playing partners drives who hit it shorter than me and always say "nice shot" when I hear impact.. some times they land in the woods and I feel bad.
