Just one putter since 2010. A SeeMore putter I still like. Used a Never Compromise from 1990 to 2010. A Ray Cook from 1980 to 1990. A Wilson 8802 from 1960's to 1980. It ain't the arrow that's for sure.

The roomie and I booked our airfare for Scotland last night. Prices kept creeping up so we went ahead and splurged on the non stop flight out of Dulles to Edinburgh. Sure beats having to stress out about layovers. It's only 5 months away and it'll be here before I know it.

This is the flight I took and it was fantastic. Especially if you have storms or any weather here - you're not worried about making a connection.

 

Coming back too, the timing is great.

Four days of shottracker this week. Hallelujah. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m the only one on my pick this. MC here I come! I went through OWGR strength of field from last year to pick out which full field events are weaker and a better spot for an elite guy. This week has one of the worst purse/SOF ratios. Wouldn’t want to over think this pool!!

I went with Leishman in my pool this week. I think a lot of people will be jumping on guys in the Top 10 in the field, so I strayed just outside.

Somewhat surprised to read this afternoon that MV actually decided to adopt the "local OB/lost ball rule" for all play except Championship Flight of Club Championship. Most of the guys I play with were almost certain that the club was going to side with the oldsters and their "this isnt real golf" line of argument.

 

Saves so much time in tournament play. Love it.

Basically. And as always with pool related discussions only my opinion. I like taking Rahm st the career builder and DJ at pebble when they’re 5-1 and not this week when you have such a strong top end.

Quiet afternoon. Hope people got out to the course. I snuck out to the range this afternoon after having been on the road since Saturday morning. It was glorious.

i think i started keeping a handicap in 2009 or 2010. since then i have used four putters. who has me beat?

i think ogre41 has 8+ putters and he can’t ever make up his mind. He gets bored a lot.

 

Just put a Red Iomic on my Versa 1 Wide. It fits better in the bag than the Two Ball. Also put a PP58 Tropic on my Anser 2 and Anser 2f. I’m unclear as to why other than I decided I am against Superstrokes right now. I should probably play before I do anything else, but I probably won’t.

So I'll be down in Orlando this weekend for my daughter's gymnastics meet. My son and I might be able to play a round of golf on Saturday. Anyone have any recommendations? One of the Disney courses? I'm guessing they'll be pricey. Is it worth it?

 

 

Update: we're staying at the Orlando World Center Marriott and it looks like they have a course, Hawk's Landing. Any opinion on that one?

If you want a bargain and don’t mind a 20-30 min drive, do royal St. Cloud in St. Cloud. 27 holes. Not a lot of trees. Linksy. Decent amount of water and bunkers.

I played Celebration and MetroWest last June. Metrowest was fine, but unremarkable. Celebration pretty nice. I'd play there again for sure.

If you don’t mind paying touristy greens fees Orange County national and celebration are way up there as well.

I played Celebration a number of years ago and enjoyed it. It’s also the only course I’ve played in the Orlando area so there isn’t a ton of comparison. As an eternal Florida golf hater, you really can’t go wrong with any golf in Florida at this time of year. It’s going to be snowing here for Pete’s sake. Get out and post some pics so the rest of us can be jealous.

When I was in Daytona a few years ago we played at a course called Bella Collina which was just west of Orlando. It was so bizarre. It was a massive property, I think at the time a failed private course that had opened up some tee times on GolfNow for $90. It was surrounded by empty space where they had clearly tried to sell lots and failed. And the clubhouse was...80,000 sqft or so, something like that. Clearly meant to be a really big fancy private club but they were selling tee times on GolfNow for some reason. The locker room was incredible. But we liked that it was a non-typical layout for Florida, really spread out, huge piece of land.

 

Looking at some current pictures, it looks like they decided to plant palm trees in some of the old lots. Good call.

Yeah I read some reports that Riviera could be flooded with all of the rain they are supposed to get. We could see very little golf from there today.

I agree with that. Even though he has won there it has never been a course that has suited his game that well. If he made these comments about any other tournament this wouldn’t even be news. But it will be because it’s The Players and the tour tries to build it up so much.
