Good time out at EagleMore yesterday with Tex and DSC. Wet AF everywhere out there, like I imagine most courses are right now. Was to the point where I think it was probably easier carrying than pushing. A lot of spots where you couldnt even take casual water relief and hey thankfully there is more rain coming lol. Had new Nike spikeless shoes and didnt slip once - perfect test for them imo.

 

Fun course though, I had last played there years ago when I am pretty sure the nines were switched. A few quirky holes but like MV, if you are out there practicing every week, you could probably hit 4-5 different clubs off the tee on the 4s/5s and get some really good practice in. From a course management perspective, I would definitely have to reconsider some of my tee club choices when it dries out, wet ground saved me a few times. Only one or two tee shots that really irked me. Smashed on on 17 that was middle of the fairway, 70 yards out - only theres a big tree overhanging the front of the green. Tried to chip a 9 iron off the soaking wet turf. Sploosh. Chipped one up near the green, frutted a 30 footer for par.

 

I actually didnt lose a ball until 16 which I thought was pretty great for not remembering the course at all. I'm just hitting the ball way too well off the tee to be scoring as bad as I am. I had the M5 head in the bag I was planning on swapping at the turn but didnt see the need. Overall, definitely glad that was not a postable round.

 

Burger in the bar afterwards was a 10/10, will bang again. But go_time and Tex had the rueben though that looked pretty good too.

If we get a drought and it becomes firm and fast out there, woodmore will play SO differently. We only know the brand of golf out there where all tee balls plug. I can hardly get a low stinging 4i to roll out right now. On the flip side hooky tumbling drives don’t roll into trouble currently so that’s great.

Yeah I had a few of those out there which saved me. But if it dries out, definitely a few holes I would dial back on. Like on 13, I hit a 3 iron way too far. If it was running out - probably could go as low as a 6 iron or so off the tee so you didn't get blocked out.

Don’t even get me started on the Winegardners...they sent young Charlie to the leadbetter boarding academy or whatever when he was younger and he was supposed to be the next great PGA superstar. I think the best he ever did was play in some Canadian and Latin American events. Had a Taylormade sponsorship for a little while. Then suddenly he is back competing in MD amateur events. His family has 3 or 4 dealerships. Pretty sure sonny boy has one of those “jobs” where you are on the beach with your gf most of the time...

Driving range club test - jumbo bucket is a LOT of balls.

 

G400 Max, Epic SZ, Epic - All three are very good. Probably about the same length. SZ spins less and has a better ball fight. I think I am sticking with it. Epic will be the back up and I am going to sell the Ping

 

Rogue Pro, Steelhead XR. All about the shaft. Love the look of the pros, didn't like the XP105 shafts. Probably too lazy to move the Recoils from the XRs to the Rogues. Rogues will be moved along

One nice thing yesterday was being able to play up 18 at almost 6 pm. Granted it was so dark I couldnt see where balls were really landing but it was at least light enough that we could rapidly play the last few holes.

I can make zero sense of CBS coverage today. They keep cutting to highlights of random players who might or might not be in the hunt and the holes they're showing are from maybe round 1 or maybe round 2. There are players on the course, hitting shots. I've seen the same 3 hole outs 5 times.

Got a chance to sneak out today to enjoy some “good enough” golf weather. Had to choose between a longer drive to Burke Lake to spend some time on the range or a short drive to Pinecrest to play some soggy, goose poopy golf. Chose soggy goose poopy golf and generally glad I did. Course was empty with the exception of some “foot golfers.” Ended up hitting a few balls per hole, didn’t really keep track of score, and just hit different shots. Range may have been more productive, but it’s just more fun to get out and hoof it around.

I’m really looking forward to the golf today. The leaderboard is awesome, the course is fun to watch, and with Scott I have something to root for. I have no clue what the winning score will be. Could be barely lower than JT is now or 20 under.

 

Golf season starts next Sunday. Got my first game of the year set up.

Most of the later groups were hitting mid or short irons in after hitting less than driver off the tee. Is the tour just that afraid to have a par 70?

 

But the second hole was almost the same length, playing uphill - and is a par 4.

At the Maryland am qualifier I played with a guy who told me he "ran a home restoration business". He was 28. His dad owned it and he worked there. I told him I was from Pittsburgh and he said he "tries" to get up to play Oakmont a couple of times a year. That's how he related to me. The reason this kid works for the family business is because he's so terrible no one else would hire him.

 

That's as much his dad's fault as it is his.

Hey everyone,

 

New to the thread and wanted to introduce myself.

 

I'm relatively new to the Baltimore area and have been looking for a league/playing partners/tournaments.. came across the hive and was signed up for ground hog day but too bad the weather couldn't cooperate. Looking forward to hopefully playing in a few of those events later this year. Anyways, if anyone else has tomorrow off and is looking to play, let me know.

Totally validates my miserable performance yesterday in 40 degree windy weather.
