Odyssey Rossie Opinions?

I've always been curious about this putter. I've seen it stores and enjoy the mid-mallet head shape and rounded profile. Not to mention some great putters out there have gamed one.

 

Would love to hear y'all's thoughts on the Rossie and also any opinions as to what model/year is the best or worst. I'm going to start scouring the internet and look for one in mint/new condition, and would love to know any particular model years I should keep an eye out for as I know Odyssey inserts have changed quite a bit over time.

Had one but hated the three alignment lines on the top along the with the two at the back which always looked off to me of that makes sense. If those three lines were eliminated I would like that putter much more.

Would that be closer then to the Odyssey #5 shape they have?

I’ve had the #5 as well which I prefer and to me there completely different head shapes for a small mallet.

I like the White Hot Pro 2.0 Rossie (same putter as White Hot Pro, but with a lighter finish and swirl on the face). You can still order them new.

The works tank version with only the 3 lines is very clean

How is the Works Tank insert on those? I wish there was a Rossie shape with one line up top and then the two in the flange. That would be ideal for me.

Love the Rossie and #5 mid-mallet models. Wish Odyssey would bring at least one or two mid mallets back to their line-up. R-Line is another in that area of the original mallet size and not some of the oversize versions out today. 3T and 330M were close but are knock-offs of the Anser; Rossie, R-Line and #5 are unique.

The First putter I purchased for myself was an Oydssey Rossie White Hot XG. I used it for many years and loved the size. Eventually purchased another in the White Ice line. At that point I handed the XG to my dad, who had been using an White Steel Rossie.

 

Fast forward a few years and I went from thinking I wanted a 2-ball or large mallet to help with alignment and ended up putting best with a blade with no alignment aid at all and soft lines (a Scotty Newport Select).

Compared to the Rossie I like the feel better on the Cameron, but I haven't tried a different putter since I started gaming the Cameron.

 

The Rossie is an excellent all around putter. I wouldn't hesitate to pick another one up. I'd be interested to find an old White Hot Tour Rossie which had a darker bronze-ish finish compared to the standard steel finishes. The darker finish on the White Ice was more appearling to me than that brighter XG. My cameron now is also the darker finish.

 

I also played around with their other mid mallets like the #5 but didn't enjoy them like I thought I would.

 

Oh also, my buddy bought the White Ice off of me and both of my former Rossie's are still be gamed by him and my father to this day.

I have an older White Hot Tour Rossie with the white insert in my backup bag. I've been using it quite a bit as I as use this bag to travel, and I have been putting lights out. Still a great putter. I like a little heavier putter and at 355g this one works well. Kind of beat up... but it may just knock my SC out of the bag in the spring.

HA that's funny! No idea why no alignment aid works better for me... but it has. it must be something to do with being able to focus on the line on my ball which I do use to line up my putt. I'm better at using that and trusting my stroke to get the ball rolling the right way.

 

I got a spot award at work for $100... I may just put that towards going to the local fitter here and seeing how good my aim and stroke is with the scotty, but I feel like I'm pretty dialed in with it.

I have a Metal X Milled Rossie and a White Hot Pro Rossie and while I like both, I definitely prefer the Metal X Milled as it is definitely a bigger shape. Had high hopes for the EXO Rossie but ended up hating it when I rolled it

Eyeing a strokelab black flow neck. Thought the whp black 2.0 with jumbo grip putts so well at the store.

That's the one I use. Mallet with 35-40 degree toe hang. Best putter I've ever had.

Mine came with the smaller pistol grip, so I put a Winn 1.32 on it.

The only one I can tolerate to look down on is the EXO version. Perfect alignment lines just like a #7.
