i500’s are huge. These are likely smaller than iBlades in length and profile.

I wish they would’ve come out last week. I was at the PGA SS over the weekend getting an iron fitting. Would’ve loved to hit these too. I wonder how they compare, in blade length to the 718 MBs.

I'm still stunned these are a real thing. Everything we were hearing at the PGA Show that this wasn't going to be a wide release.

That price is alot less than the $230 quoted by reviews I have seen.....thought that was a big no-no for Ping clubs?

1700/8 = $213

I love you ping !!!

The article on the front page is quoting ping and mr Solheim as stating exactly what some of us have known for ever. That a smaller head with more centered mass in the right hands gives a result of tighter dispersion than anything. Ping. Telling the truth ! Pumped to receive my set !

Lol. And that’s why I love you ! I share your sense of humor. I already told myself “ the damn truck carrying yours will overturn and not be found , the driver will live on berries and then be rescued by a mama wolf and nursed ( literally ) back to strength where he’s rescued by a passing hiker”. No memory of being a truck driver . I’ll get the replacement set around December. lol

I really want to play these, but I know they’d do more harm than good to my game right now. Out of curiosity, for someone who’s a mid handicapper who’s actively working on their game, at what point could I consider gaming something more towards a players iron? I’m currently gaming 790s but definitely notice the distance inconsistencies.

I’m surprised that DG TI isn’t offered as a shaft option. S400s were my 3rd best at my fitting this past weekend so I guess that’s good haha. Modus3 105X and PX LZ 6.0 were my 2 best, which they offer.

Driver: TaylorMade SIM MAX (10.5 degrees - set to 9.75 and 1.5 degrees open)

Shaft: Aldila Rogue 130 White 70 TX (at 45" and tipped 1")

Yes....for the type of iron being sold that should be a given along with some other strong iron shafts. DG XP 95 seems out of place, but these are their stock shafts for all irons.

They offer dynamic gold S400 no upgrade. The weight sorting is highly overrated. Other than a sweet shaft label there is virtually no difference that most could possibly tell.

8620 “Forged”... DOA in Asia. Love the B.S. “Blueprint irons are fully forged from 8620 carbon steel. The soft nature of 8620 makes it easy to forge (and why is it easy to forge..anyone familiar with cast and forged 8620 know why) but it’s also stronger and wears better”. 50% true forged 8620 is not soft when compared to 1018-1025... But it is harder (stronger) and does wear better.. At least Mizuno puts forged 1025 on their irons. Guess we should be happy they didn’t forge 431 or 17-4 ph..

A good comparison is the glide 2.0 stealth that are cast 8620 and the Glide forged 8620 wedges. Feel wise a toss up.

Also like how $230.00 is the new $212.50..

Bottom line is Pings only “traditional “ forged irons still remains their first 3 sets (see avatar for one).. Looks like JAS jr. didn’t have his mass and dispersion talk with Bubba and Cameron...assuming of course Bubba has the right hands

Agree completely, and I'm very interested to see how well Ping can translate their research/theory/positioning into messaging that actually gets through to people looking at other blades. There are already a whole bunch of comments in this thread from people saying 'I'm not good enough to play a head that small', but that the size/shape of other currently available blades is just fine for them. Ping is trying to say that their research shows this head size and narrow sole is the most consistent for players who might otherwise end up in another blade. It's definitely not for an average ballstriker, but this should totally be fair game for anyone considering other muscleback irons. I hope Ping is able to get through to people and sustain this iron, because I think it's a fantastic looking offering. Looking forward to hitting them on real grass to check out that sole interaction!

I'm also curious to see (a) how these feel, and (b) how players who like a traditional soft forged feel react to that feel and feedback. I'd imagine these are in a different universe from the generic lack of feedback on the irons Ping sells today, and frankly I hope they are better than Ping's more player-focused offerings from the past, too. My S59's were awesome clubs, but the more precise feedback from traditionally forged heads helped me become a better ballstriker. The Solheim quote promises that level of responsiveness, so we shall see...

I know this wasn't directed at me specifically but I appreciate this post, it helps me out a lot. As someone who's ballstriking is starting to enter the reliable/consistent zone, I'm getting more and more concerned with distance control and I've struggled with my P790s, even indoors on Trackman. I have a nearby PGA SS, I may look to go try the Blueprints out this summer after I have more real rounds under my belt this season (in Boston so the year is just starting).

Thanks!
