G410 irons...took the leap

Recommended Posts

2nd round with my 6-GW with Alta CB SR shafts. The course was pretty soaked since it snowed the day before and I’m still not 100% satisfied. I hit them ok with a few really sweet spot and a few that stunk. Took them out to Top Golf today and hit them a lot better off the mat as is to be expected. I’m 62 10 HC and coming from 15 years of hitting Ping G2 with stuff shafts so it was definitely time for an upgrade. I don’t regret getting them but hope to become more confident with them as the weather starts warming up. I got the Glide 2.0 Wedges in 56 and 60 as well. I have a LOT of practice to do with them.

For those that ordered these, how long did it take for Ping to ship? I ordered through TGW two days ago and just curious what the turnaround time has been for them to be shipped. Ordered AWT blue dot. Thx!

Mine were ordered last Friday and the fitter said they should be shipped by the 26th, so about a week and a half...?

Mine were ordered by my fitter yesterday and shipping date is 2/28 for the irons, 3/12 for the g410 3w/5w.

Got a chance to hit them today at golf galaxy. I liked them a lot with dg 120 s300. Would like to hit them on trackman and outside. Think I could easily game them with the reduced offset.

I ordered my set 4-UW DG 120 X100 w/Cushin in late-January and received them on 2/20.

Unfortunately it rained so much this week (this winter in general) that the local school system cancelled school on Friday and a few courses have been closed all week. Suffering from a case of cabin fever, my first session with the new sticks will be at Top Golf today off of mats and with terrible quality balls. If I’m lucky, I hope to get a round of 18 in after walking Sunday afternoon.

Lovely sticks.

Today it was a first glance. Too cold for the cart, so picked the Sunday bag with hybrid, 6/8/P and glides stealth 54.

They behaved very nice, I would say better than g400 (my previous sticks). Like a lot the feel and the shape.

In my opinion it is an improvement under all aspects.

Hit a nice 94. My best score is 89

Looking forward to hearing more opinions as G410 iron usage grows. Curious if the Hydropearl 2.0 finish resists scratching better than on G400.

Between taking my clubs out of the box, putting them in my bag, and then pulling them out at Top Golf, some of my irons already had some minor wear to the hydropearl finish... But the performance will trump the durability of the finish for now. Extremely please with my time at Top Golf and looking forward to being able to play 18 this weekend.

Guys how are you liking your 410s wedges?

So far mine are the best part of the set with the 2 rounds I have in so far. They put a lot of spin on the ball.

First demo was last Sat. Not bad. Low 50’s and overcast with no wind. Thus far, It’s between the g410 and Taylor Made 790 for me. I had the 790 w/Modus 105s and wasn’t able to get fit. The Modus 105 just did not suit my swing. I could not feel it at all.

The 790 I hit at the demo day had Nippon 950GH. Wow, what a huge difference. That stated, given I had gamed the g25 since there release......

TBD.....

I ordered through Carlsbad Golf Center who did my fitting on 2/18. Since I'm having them put Golf Pride MCC 4 Plus grips on they're getting shipped to them to put the grips on before I take possession. So I have no tracking information. I only know estimated ship date is 2/28 for irons/hybrid and 3/12 for 3w/5w (all g410). Carlsbad GC is amazing, a woman who works there said she could drop them off at my house since she lives near me. Luckily I'm leaving town for a few days so that should mitigate this agonizing wait!

I have a question... how long do you think it will take for them to ship from Phoenix to Carlsbad?

Sounds like you could benefit from simplifying your bag. See the minimalist thread.

First time poster.....I think. I am amazed that some of you are coming off 400 irons for the 410 irons. has it even been a year yet?

Ha ha. One year is an eternity for some around here.

Besides, they have reduced offset and look more like a player's club.

Does anyone have any reviews? Seems like everyone is just posting their shipment status.

I posted my thoughts after my initial round with mine. Monsoon season won’t end so it’ll be a few weeks before I can get specific. I have only been able to use them twice.
