G410 irons...took the leap

Another G25 guy here. Check sig.

I stopped by Dicks on the way home from work just to take a look. I don’t think my local shop has them in yet as they don’t have the buying power of Dicks.

I’ve got more than enough credit built up and the 410 are on the list. I’m thinking 5-P and going another route with the gap wedge but that’s not certain yet.

You go first C! If you get 'em, I'll bite!

Yeah, I’m waiting to see if another G25 user switches before I consider it. Tried the G400 and still preferred my 25s so not expecting much!

I'm in the same boat (playing G25's) and having a mental struggle justifying $125/club for new sticks. I'll do it for a noticeable improvement but I'm not convinced yet.

Ed - you recently switch back to the G25's? Seems like I recall you having some, going away, and now back? I've always had a soft spot for the 25's … played a lot of good golf with those. One of the last before the move into the "new" aged look of the G-series. (I don't count the G30's as they were darn near identical to the G25s, but I liked the badging on the 25's better, personally).

Take a serious look at the 410's though. I think they're a real contender for guys that like a little sleaker and more compact look (which is perfect for me because I go back and forth between G and I series all the time). I just ordered my G410's and am very excited about them. Coming from i200's (which I've thoroughly enjoyed).

Pulled the trigger last night on a set. I had the lengths altered to match the lengths in my old i25’s, Kbs tour stiff shafts and midsize grips.

The big difference that I could tell between the 400 & 410 was the offset and minor head size in the mid-short irons. The 4 & 5 irons look kind of like mini crossovers to me in both sets, i can see the back bottom of the sole behind the club when i sole it, if that makes sense. They’re chunky, but they look solid. Mid to short irons look really good & I really liked the feel.

Traded in some old clubs towards a 19* 410 hybrid too. I’ll be all ping this year, except for the spider, it ain’t going anywhere.

They are beautiful specially at address, only thing that bothers me is the number stamped on the face looks like it deformed the face a bit.

I snapped these today at an Edwin Watts store in The Villages, FL. In the photo showing two irons at address, he G400 iron on the right. It doesn't show so well in the photos, but in hand, the G410 is noticeably smaller all the way around.

Unreal, you've gotta be kiddin me.

Now I've heard another great excuse.

I held these babies today....man they look nice for a ping G series

I saw them in person for the first time on Saturday.

My impression is that they look a lot like the i210's, just a little bigger. I think they would combo with i210 nicely, if that is something that people like to do. But the offset in the short irons is minimal, so probably not necessary with the G410.

I am going to buy a G410 6-iron and an i500 6-iron and compare them for a month; then possible add a few more of the model that I prefer.

I am getting ready to order a 2nd set of G400 irons for the VA bag. That's how much I trust them. I dont see the G410 adding any advantage and I don't want less offset.

Good choice, I think. My clubs (G25s) were recently getting some repairs and I had to play with a friend's irons over a stretch of a couple weeks. The other irons were still GI but had less offset than the Ping's. Of course it could have been due to many things about the other club, but I felt like I just didn't hit the ball as well (contact always seemed fractionally off).

If I get a set of G410s, I'm definitely going to get the PowerSpec lofts to have some of the offset added back.

Time to get them dialed in before the season and start another epic G series thread?

Haha! that kind of thing can only happen once. Like when Robo tried to follow up his L4V thread. It's just never the same (tears run down face)

The sequel is never as good as the original. PING should send you a set of 410’s based on the G15 sales you were responsible for...

They did the next best thing! The G410's are one of the least expensive new iron sets on the market. Can't believe I'm writing that about Ping

I want to order a 4-SW set. I might....I don't know. I'm all talk most of the time.

Am I the only one that would kill for a set of “Pro” or reduced offset G irons?! I really like how the new G410s look up to the 5/4 iron, then I just can’t handle that much offset. I know that’s a me problem, and yes I know the “I” version is probably better suited for me, but I’d love to have that option of low offset, but slightly larger club heads.

I would love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me the forgiveness I need on off-center mishits. I've got the swing speed to hit it with the pros, but not the skill or time to practice! I don't need help elevating the ball. I already hit moon balls. G30's are for me, but boy they still balloon sometimes into the wind! I don't need offset to make it balloon and go left. Left is already my high swing speed miss.

Hit these last night and the AWT 2.0 stiff was best shaft for me. Swing was about 78mph with the 7 iron. Guy at Galaxy who is actually competent and been there a while said that he’s amazed how many people he fits into the AWT with ping irons. I really like the look of the G410 - to me the amount of offset and blade length is pretty ideal. G400 were good but I thought the blade length just visually looked too long. G410 were very forgiving too - distances were very consistent.

Nice. The AWT 2.0 is a very good shaft--I assume it is still a Nippon shaft. I can definitely play the AWT 2.0 stiff and be happy, though I still veer towards the Modus Tour 105 stiff. Obviously, there are a bunch of other options, but those are both great no-upcharge "everyman" shafts. Looking forward to giving the G410's a demo.

I hit a G410 7-iron in the simulator at Dick's over the weekend (AWT 2.0 stiff shaft). It felt good and was actually longer than my G30 7-iron - with more consistent ball flight. Eager to hit them outside soon vs. the i210s. Further, the G410 felt and performed better than the Rogue Pro and Steelhead XR Pro - for me, anyway.

Any words of advice against ordering these a degree or 2 weak? I know it will increase the bounce but didn’t know if this would be a bad idea for a reason I’m not aware of.

Reason I ask is because I’m considering a 52/58 wedge setup and the stock PW is 44.5*.

The loft spread on these irons is pretty wide so that should allow for one more wedge. Why not go 44.5, 50, 55, 60?

Yea that is similar to the gapping I have now and wouldn't have an issue doing it again. Just pondering a different wedge combination and wondering if it would fit with these irons.

I have been a Ping guy for 30 years, but this color scheme put me off, so I went with some Rogue irons and they are fantastic.

Still love Ping as a company and respect them. I guess that I wanted a change.

Enjoy the 410 irons, look forward to the reviews.

Saw them at PGA Superstore while in Orlando last week on a golf vacation. Look great, I could easily game this version. I had G400 with stiff graphite and they were a mistake. Shaft was too light and offset messed with me.

I could easily game these with the right shaft. KBS Tour 120 might be nice. Shame PING still doesn’t offer Modus 120. My favorite shaft by far.

Like the looks, profile and less offset. Look very forgiving. Even thought the SW and LW looked very playable.
