Thinking about trading for this putter, neither I or the seller (local) know if it’s real or fake. He’s willing to trade for my sm5 58* and sm6 60* wedges. All inputs will be very appreciated.

How much is a fake Scotty “worth” to you? Your 2 wedges probably aren’t worth more than $120 bucks. If that’s a fair to you... Then it’s a fair trade.

Well now that you put it that way, I’d say trade your wedges for it, and roll around with a fake Scotty and no wedges and never miss a green or never lay up to inside 120 yards.

Yep-they're crap. Real Napas are one of the best feeling putters IMO. Say what you will about Scotty but I Really dislike supporting intellectual property rights theft.

I'm trying to picture in my mind the guy who knows (and doesn't care) he has a fake Scotty, and how he goes about it. "Yeah, guys, I got this for two old wedges. It's not even real, but you can't tell!", but he only tells his closest friends that he plays with most often this little secret. Otherwise, when he gets paired up, he's bragging to these strangers about this putter, how it's rare and valuable. Just like SubaruWRX said, this is the same guy that buys a $25 Rolex in Times Square and then shows it off to all of his friends to brag (until it starts turning his wrist green).

 

What's the point of trading/ purchasing an item that you are well aware is a counterfeit? So you can lie to people about this desirable and exclusive piece, that is actually a mass produced piece of junk? Especially knowing the situation BEFORE making the trade.

I'm not judging the fact that a fake Scotty is being played, per se. I'm more judging the lies that will accompany the putter for it's life, and the kind of person that would rather have that putter and tell the lies than work hard and put in the effort to have the real thing.

I'd be afraid someone would grab my bag from the bag drop after my round while I'm having a beer, because they overheard my b.s. story and thought they could make off with my "expensive" putter. This is reason number one why I'll never understand guys that knowingly buy fake Scotty CT headcovers from Asian websites to put on their $300 OTR putter. Just asking someone to swipe that thing thinking they got a $3,000 Circle T because you put a $25 DHGate cover on your Newport Select.

Hahaha! Yes. When I played an OTR Scotty Newport a few years ago, ( before I found my awesomely hideous ghost spider), I deliberately put a generic unmarked headcover on it specifically so no one would have any interest in it while I wasn’t watching my bag.
