G400 SFT head cracked @ hosel

Long story short I bought this head off of the BST a few months ago. Have played 6 rounds with it, and noticed a small crack at the hosel today. I don’t have the OEM shaft, as I put my HElium in it. FWIW, I had the club built by a very reputable builder in my city. Is there anything that I can do aside from buying a new driver?

I had the exact same experience with a G30 LST.

 

Take the driver to a Ping dealer, they should handle it.

 

FWIW i bought mine from BST, no receipt or anything and 8 days later I had a new G400LST.

Is this a stock Ping adapter? My G400 adapter doesn't have that fancy mark on it. If the adapter is aftermarket that may be the reason the head cracked.

The adapter says 'Ping' on it... so i guess so. by the way, thanks for posting the pic for me, I couldnt figure out how to do it

Here's a pic of the adapter w/ the head removed. Would the fact that it is a LH adapter change the markings?

i had a G400, non-lst/sft head crack in the same spot

It was common with the G30s due to the screw/torque, something like that if I recall. Have seen much fewer cases with the G400 but they will take care of it. I’d recommend grabbing a cheap stock shaft with an oem adapter to send in for the replacement. The marking on the adapter shown just signifies LH, but it’s tough to tell the aftermarket ones from the OEM ones as they are very, very similar. Don’t give them a reason to deny the replacement though.

Mine did the same. I took it to my local Roger Dunn and they swapped a head for me right on the spot. I believe you can send it to Ping as well, but I would try getting a direct swap first. Just my guess, but if you do a lot of tinkering these heads can have issues... they crack on the hosel because there is very little material in that spot from what it seems. Great drivers but there have been many of the same issues.

Talked to ping yesterday. They told me to take it to a ping retailer and they would handle it. Took it to golf galaxy, and they are going to send just the head in monday (I have an aftermarket shaft). Ping said that they will just send a whole new driver back. Now I don't know which of their factory shaft offerings to go with

Had it happen in a Rapture 3 wood. I just used epoxy to secure the adapter/shaft into the head and it’s all good
