Sand Wedge an Idiot Could Use

I recently put a 56° Mizuno T5 wedge into play and that has worked very well for me. I’ve stopped blading everything.

Also going back in time, the Hogan sure-out and Radial S are both decently idiot-proof

Wise choice! If you can't get out of bunkers with that club it's on YOU! The nice thing about the ES sole is that it guards against submarining into the sand, yet the actual bounce number isn't overly high so it will work in hard bunkers too.

Unless you have the wrong bounce for the situation/sand or really bad lie, it's all technique. Bunker play isn't hard at all. I know, I know, uselss post, but no more useless than pointing out piles of different wedges that aren't that different and expecting things to drastically change.

Open stance, open the club face to the sky (not by just turning your hands), dig in, weight a littel forward, smash the sand just behind the ball and then think, 'huh, that was easy'...

Ping 58 ES is working very well. What I didn't anticipate is how well this club works from the short grass. Really like it.

I have a Cleveland Smart Sole 2.0 and that wedge never leave a ball in the sand. It is also good in thick ruff around the green. It will not be easier.

I would agree..the K grind or the W grind in the Callaways are great. They are also excellent from heavy rough. My only complaint would be they are pretty heavy due to the wider sole. If you have deep soft sand or struggle from the bunker these are great. If you have firm compacted sand look elsewhere

Can't believe there haven't been any suggestion of the C3i wedge! If you are really just looking for a club to get out of the bunker, without improving your technique, there really isn't a better sand wedge!

Yep. The fat soled wedges bounced off even fluffy sand for my swing and ended up skulling a lot of my sand shots. Bought a PM grind 60 when they first came out and it was like cheating...I use it for pretty much everything inside 40-50 yards.

It’s probably the only piece of equipment I’ve ever bought that instantly made me a better golfer. I’ve often joked after a round of chipping and pitching into gimme range more often than not (on good days of course) that the club was made specifically for me.

I’d reiterate comments from earlier, Cleveland CBX. I used one earlier this year while I worked through some chipping issues. Easy to make decent contact and get the ball up, but not going to provide the best spin.

Lotta love here for the PM Grind. Had a Sure Out for awhile, and loved it as well, but picked up a PM and found the SO to be relatively worthless. While the SO did function as a bit of a training tool, once I figured out technique (and you do still need that, even with all the sand-specific options mentioned), the PM Grind is every bit as effective and so much more versatile than the SO.
