I've never played Waterchase. I've heard good things though. I'll have to tee it up there soon.

Fort Worth city courses are still open, at least according to website. I know they aren’t exactly Waterchase level, but Rockwood is pretty good now. They’ve removed the pins instead of doing what other courses have done with PVC/pool noodles/upside down cups.

I feel like all courses should remove the pins and have a system to tell us where the hole is on the green and we just fire at an empty green.

I’m betting all of us would hit more greens if this were the case. The Golden Bear has long said that amateurs should ignore the pin and play to the fat part of the green.

I think as we used to live in the land of the free and home of the brave, we should be able to make our own choices regarding whether to 'risk' playing golf, going outside, walking our dogs, etc.

Trails of Frisco is back open starting tomorrow.

Quick story. 10th hole at our course is a short par 4. We get to our balls in the fairway and see the flagstick laying on the green but toward the back of the green. We obviously can't see the hole so I tell the wife to just aim at the middle of the green. She hits a good shot and proceeds to hole it for an eagle 2. I tell her you're welcome, lol.

Garland golf course has a new ownerDuck Creek sold again. What is the deal with this course ? Was purchased in 2012 with little to no community backing and reopened shortly after. Home owners didn't really seemd interested in it and it immediately became a hacker course. Owner lost money on it every single year it was open. Tried to be a high volume low quality course but 1. is located in a very competitive golf area and 2. low budget can't maintain high volume, its an oxymoron

Now the current owner convinced some company (Par Fore LLC) on a 1.6 million dollar owner finance sale ? You have to be kidding me ?

This course is barely a step of los rios right now and the neighbhorhood isn't even that great anymore. This course is literally the scam of the century

Played Trails of Frisco today and was the first one off walking by myself. It was awesome and i finished in 2:20. They punched the greens maybe 2 weeks ago but still some sand on them but other than that course was in good shape. Flags sticks are in but they have the cups turned upside down.

Never played Duck Creek but unfortunately I played Los Rios once, what a crap hole that place is - I’m pretty certain I left after 9.

Oh man, Brickyard is real mess of a layout. If there was a golf course featured in The Deliverance it would be Old Brickyard.

I’d add Tour 18 to this list. There was a time when it had great conditions but its been a dumpster fire for the past 7 years or so.

Last time I played Tour 18 number one was soaked and it hadn't rain in weeks. My buddies played it a few weeks ago and said it's TERRIBLE.

Not to mention, there is zero flow to tour 18. Each hole is so vastly different that it’s A hot mess. The idea was solid and that parcel of land is wonderful, but someone with some capital should come in and start over.

When I first moved to Southlake that place was in the middle of nowhere with McMansions around it - thought that was real ballsy to build out that far. Now it’s connected to the Metroplex with no reason to be in such poor condition, if the conditions were solid the place would have traffic. The word of mouth is what is killing it.

How is Trails of Frisco? Just recently moved to the north Frisco area and the only places ive been able to play so far are Tribute and Frisco Lakes.

Trails was good 2 weeks ago but the greens still had some sand. Bet they should be really good by now.

Good to know. The greens at Frisco Lakes are in real rough shape.. Basically unplayable.

Damn, wonder what happened. I played Frisco Lake earlier in the year before all this hit and the greens were in really good shape. Late January or early February maybe.

Also, @callawayjay how did you come up with that dumpster fire list? Riverchase and Bear Creek I agree 100%. But Old Brickyard? One of the more original tracks I've ever played. Also The Glen is a treasure. It is what it is. Plantation is nice too.

If you mean Buffalo Creek in Rockwall, they do have a notice on their website that they are closed until further notice. I am not aware of a Buffalo Ridge in the DFW area.

Plantation has a place in my heart because it was the first place I shot 72. But it has too many 360 yard par 4s with water in front.

 

the glens condition is not worth its neighbor in the highlands.

 

Old Brickyard is Coyote Ridge On Meth. And I don’t like coyote ridge either. It’s just a layout crammed into a tiny parcel of land.

Plated Trails today. Greens were ok not the best but they did have the pool float on the stick going up about 2 feet above the hole. We did play in 4 hours and never had to wait. I sure hope all these courses keep the 10 minute spacing as it has really helped pace of play. No way before COVID you could play in 4 hours on a weekend morning.
