My lung dart days are behind me, but thems are my kind of people!! Great to hear of the conditioning. I still have some game and carry a plus handicap, but my best days are spent with dudes trying to break 80. Greatly appreciate your reply. I’ll certainly be looking into it.

He's talking about degenerate potheads, not lung darts.

Thanks for the clarification.  I guess my buddy did not tell me the which membership he got unless he got a deal somehow.

I’m hoping one day they send me an email with a deal on initiation. Would be hard to resist. Gentle Creek sends me stuff like that here and there, but they’re still too pricy for me.

Yeah i have a couple of buddies up there and i think it is 25K/700 now.  They all joined when it was around 5K and that was a nice deal.

What course would you recommend for a bachelor party with all skill levels? Ideally we’d like to stay under $150 if possible.

I presume you are looking for golf plus food and drink afterward. If it is not too much out of your way you might check out Wildhorse GC at Robson Ranch. Just off Exit 79  I35W.

They use dynamic pricing so maybe sometimes but over $100 for sure on weekend rates.

they do and i did see $100+ for this past week

I do the Ranch club membership there which is 200/year and you get one free round, only pay $70 during peak times for you and one other, and earn points each round for another free round. I started lat year and have earned 2 additional free rounds plus you get discounts on food and pro shop. it more than pays for itself. my buddies do it too so we play there mostly because it has some of the best public course conditions in the area

anyone have any opinion on M&P group?  they own three courses (Shady Valley in Arlington, Cascades in Tyler, and recently bought Coyote Ridge in Carrollton).   Understand that its not a full private (rumor is they are heading that way) and ofc not nearly as good as member owned, but think the initiation is something like $5k/450 per month for CR.    I don't have any experience with any of the courses nor know much about M&P so any input would be appreciated.   CR is pretty close to me.

It can't be worse than the previous owner. That's all I have to say about that.

I met with their membership director last year and they "addressed" the prior owner issue.  I didn't know the history of it but they must get asked quite a bit about it to mention it to prospective members.

I feel like Coyote Ridge forgot they needed 18 holes and just threw the back 9 in last minute.

yeah.. I heard that and can see why people say that given an overview of the course.    I'm going to play it for the first time in the next week or so.  Its just so close to me and its reasonable to get in now price-wise, IF they intend on going full private and ofc, IF M&P is willing to put in the $ (so far I know they upgraded their carts and were in the process of re-working all the bunkers but were having a hard time getting enough quality sand).

If Indian Creek was private I would jump on that as its only a few minutes more away.

Coyote Ridge is really not a very good golf course. The front nine the houses are really close and like the previous poster said, the back nine is an afterthought with very difficult and demanding approaches to elevated tiny greens. If the goal was to put 18 holes in the smallest acreage area possible they might win that award.

conditions have been sparse for the past few years also.

Not sure your budget but Castle Hills is in the area and very nice.   Also, the Tribute and OA are close and priced pretty reasonable but only golf.

Played CH quite a bit and its even closer than CR but have a member of the family that works there and cant be a member.   Honestly.. even if I could, it'd still be just outside the cost I'd like to stay around anyway.   Tribute and OA are a possibility,....saw the membership price post above and that's in the realm of possibilites, but it looks like there was some comment that they raised their rates.   I guess I need to get off my a** and check it for myself as even though it is about 25 min or so away, looks real nice.

They might have made some improvements since the fall but there is more than a half dozen holes that are borderline unfair. It was always in pretty good shape when Sam Moon owned it but it had definitely fallen by the wayside over the last 2 years. Played a tournament out there 2 years ago and the bunkers were being renovated and played out there 6 months ago and the bunkers were still being worked on. It was very disheartening
