I’ve heard rust lowers spin...never experienced this but I’ve heard it. However...the groove edge is typically sharper on a raw wedge than a plated one. In my experience a raw wedge spins more. I’m not a scientist, I just go with what I’ve seen.

I've heard people argue both. I actually did my 7th grade science fair project on this about 5 years ago and found that the difference in spin was pretty much nothing. Having sharp and clean grooves, as well as how well the shot was struck, made a big difference in spin numbers. Granted, I had people hitting and not a robot, but I think the argument over raw vs. chrome wedge is a lot of peoples' opinion, mainly because there's nothing definitive for either side.
