Ventus tipping

Does anybody know the Ventus tipping according to graphics ??? I have a Ventus 6S that measures 4" from tip to the "e" in Velocore......Is this tipped ???

Any idea how an adaptor might fit into this? I realize that’s Probably a dumb question but is it 4” to the end of a TM adaptor?

Would be 4.5” end of TM tip to the E in Velocore I believe.

This is correct. I have a 1" tipped in TM sleeve and measures 3.5" to E.

Thanks. I bought a club online yesterday from second swing and appears to be tipped a bit but won’t know until it gets here and I can measure. Might be 1/2” or so. Maybe more.

I’ve heard different conclusions about Ventus tipping. Fuji recommends not to and that the tip is the stiffest part of the shaft so tipping it can actually make it softer in the tip, but I’ve also read the exact opposite. Anyone have any experience here?

Tipping a shaft will never make it softer. Fujikura is saying that the Ventus shaft has the stiffest tip section of all their shafts.

When for a fitting this summer and we ended up at 1.5” on the driver. Seemed like a ton but did it ever bring my spin numbers down

Ordered my SIM2 custom from TM and didn’t adjust tipping instructions. Sure enough it’s been tipped 1”, which I understand is standard practice for TM. It is 3” from the end of “Velocore” to tip, and 4” is what it should be un-tipped. So why is this standard practice for TaylorMade to tip all driver shafts 1”?  Especially on a shaft that the manufacturer recommends not tipping at all??

TM doesnt even know why. It's probably one of the dumbest practices of any OEM club manufacturer to date.

Ventus is interesting, tipping softens the tip as that's where it is stiffest

But overall stiffens up

Ventus Black is already pretty stout.

 

TM used to tip 1" due to 4" parallel sections of the shafts, though most OEM's should have shafts at 3" parallel tips. 

The Ventus Black is 3", unless requested should not be tipped. It is all preference, fine tuning

 

Now the Ventus Red, diff story, folks are tipping 1", 1.5" 2"+ as it is not as stout as the black, but seems to be close

They probably do it to artificially create a custom club option that isn’t really there.  You can get a “soft” tip if you choose.  With that being said, I feel that tipping every driver and wood shaft at least an inch is the right answer, but I suppose someone might want something spinnier so cutting something shouldn’t be the default.

when you tip a shaft you are also  ensuring more of the stiffest part of the shaft (butt)  remains

Correct!! I explain this to everyone that I work with and teach and this is the way to think about it, the butt end is always going to be the stiffest part of the shaft with the diameter being the widest. The more of that you keep the stiffer its going to get if everything else is consistent.
