I have 3 sets of i3 Blades. All with different shafts. But the set I like best are the JZ Stiff. IMO, these clubs are every bit as good and forgiving as the entire modern i series, i20-25-200-210. Sure the lofts are weaker and sure, some say they feel harsh. But get them out on the golf course and they perform every bit as good as the 200/210 that cost $700 more. Plus, they are indestructible, but you already know that. These new Ping irons, you unwrap them, put them in your bag and break them in at the range and your first round of golf. By the 4th hole they look 9000 years old and the finish wears off. Guys who spent $800 bucks for their set are crying rivers to their mom and cursing Ping before they hit the turn.

Save yourself some cash and play the best iron Ping has ever put out minus the Eye2. Ping i3 Blades rock. i3+ Blades even better. It’s only on the internet where you’ll feel your missing out or playing an inferior iron. Out on the golf course, you’ll find the i3 Blades are every bit as good. Play your best.

I had a set several years ago with Dynamic Gold Lite shafts. They were abnormally long for me for some reason. I was hitting the 9 iron like 170, no joke. It was crazy. My G25 9 iron flies a more human 160 yards these days. The only thing that has come close to that 170 recently is the Adams XTD forged with C-Tapers, but they were probably stronger lofted. And I thought the i3 Blades felt great, too. Definitely a great set of irons, regardless of their vintage. Put 'em in the bag!

The newer i's have a higher MOI for more forgiveness. The sole has more camber too so it goes through the turf a little easier. https://www.golfworks.com/images/art/MPF_PING.pdf

I find it funny, the S59 have a higher MOI than the i3 Blades/i3+ Blades. It's pretty slight, but it's there.

i3+ Blades in the bag, equally good Mizunos in the closet (but it's me and not the club). The i3+ is just so easy to hit and you can work it when you need to.

They were good for their time. Badge behind the head have it decent feel. But far from indestructible....that badge fell off all the time. Plenty of used sets have a few clubs missing the badge

Just picked up a complete set of i3 blades 3-LW with jz stiff cushion. I wanted something with a slightly lighter shaft and these also check a lot of boxes for me. After reading I expected high launch and maybe some ballooning but while they spin a lot with those grooves, they don't balloon for me and hit normal distances. Decent is steeper than I'm used to and I didn't gain distance for the lighter shafts but they aren't floating. I grew up on dynamics though an s3 is getting to be too much work for me (64). These shafts are right in the wheelhouse and actually give me a similar launch. ymmv. Distances are also similar as I get a bit more air time from the spin but no roll out on short to mid irons. Kinda drop and stop on softer greens.

I lost distance on shafts like C-taper lite from too high and spinny but the JZ cushion work fine for me. may have also bee to soft which generally don't help me with distance. Wedges feel a hair soft on chips etc after one round but it's really just an adjustment period and full shots were as expected. Simple looking sand wedge worked great for that as well and I found that the gap wedge works for me in this set. I usually use strong sand and normal lob after the PW but really like this gapping. I threw out the 5 wood, fully lofted up the 3 to quasi 4 wd loft and I'm good. For someone that doesn't like the oversized look or lots of offset, these are pretty good after one round without a range session. I once tried i20's with cfs stiff and it was OK but the shafts felt kinda blah and I hit that set higher. I could see someone that wants all their shots to look exactly the same liking the i20/cfs but the S JZ cushion in this head seems a better fit... for me.

Heads are plenty forgiving. I don't get close to a pin with a bad swing regardless of head and these have enough correction for minor faux pas. Easy to know how you hit it as well. Once your chipping, it's luck of the draw in terms of lie etc and a few feet one way or the other isn't going to change my score. Smaller head is also more usable from bad lies on approach shots.

I had a set fitted in 2000 with JZ stiff shafts, I’m 6’7” so had 1 and 1/2 inch longer in white dot. Bought some Cobra AMP forged irons in 2015 with longer recoil f3 shafts. Decided to play the pings again today and had forgotten  how good they are! Will probably mix the sets playing the ping 2-6 and cobra 7-PW. Great fun to hit the 2 iron again as it was always my favourite club!
