I said to watch; but I'd no idea she's going to win it.

Which was what... gold coin infomercial?! Sorry to hear that. I'm in the eastern US and the golf just ended and they have immediately resumed coverage of Emeril hawking toaster ovens.

Will she remain stuck there or can she get to Yani/Inbee territory? What a season to really break out and establish herself as one of the best players currently out there!

She’s another chance next week.

She has the tools for sure, hopefully she has the headspace to put it all together. I think she does.

Umm, it kicks the a** of the players who think that bomb and gouge should define a major? This course requires precision. Jin Young hit 13 of 13 fairways today. That's major golf.

Mistake proof golf. Judy nailed it. 13 of 13 fairways. Jin Young simply goes about her business. She's long enough. She accurate enough. And gosh darn, she's just so likable. Well done! Second year on tour, and two majors this season.

It's actually quite amazing how short Hyo Joo is off the tee. She was easily 40 to 50 yards behind Sung Hyun, and at least 30 yds short of Jin Young. Her short game, including her putter, keeps her in the thick of things. Bad break with the plugged bunker shot, but she was climbing uphill today to keep up with Jin Young.

Sung Hyun has plenty of majors left in her. However, she's prone to poor play in tough conditions. She had a bad case of the lefts today, and it cost her. Her putting was also meh.

I think I basically nailed Jennifer's day. When the pressure is off, and she's swinging freely, she can definitely go low. 'Nice finish.

After I posted last night, I had second thoughts about leaving out Shanshan. She's sneaky, and showed it today.

Inbee seems to be missing the fire. She's been in contention a few times lately, but doesn't quite have the silent assassin's touch that she used too. Being short off the tee on a wet course doesn't help, but ultimately the putter let her down. Again.

Nice rounds by Ariya, Moriya, and Megan. Didn't think they had a chance to win it, but top 10's in a major are welcome.

Yes, weather was once again a factor at the Evian. Is anyone surprised? It's a mountain course, and the weather is never going to cooperate. The course punished poor shots. However, the top 3 players shot four rounds in the 60's. This is a classic ballstrikers course. Always has been.

I dunno. There's a lot to be said for mental fortitude. I give her a lot of credit, though. She was quite stoic out there today. A few chin drops, but she kept plugging away. Gotta love the big smiles from Mi Hyang after the lip outs, though. It's a game. Getting down on oneself is never the answer.

The scenery may be stunning; but the week didn't work out for Nelly:

Shanshan gets on a 3 or 4 week roll it seems, winning at Thornberry, relaxing for a few weeks I assumed she would come out all guns blazing, I said earlier in the week my gut feeling was Shanshan for the win.

It wouldn't surprise me to see her mix it up again next weekend too.

Only half the field that made the cut broke par for the week. This is certainly not your typical LPGA course. The fairways are anything but flat. The greens are sloped, and putts move towards Lake Geneva. The par 3's are anything but pushovers.

People have got to stop watching the Master at AN, and thinking that it's how a course should look. Augusta is a television sound stage. It's manicured to the nines.

Jin Young hit 79% of her fairways on a tough course, roughly the same as her season average across all courses. She hit 76% of her greens, slightly below her season average. She averaged 27.75 putts per round, more than two fewer than her season average. On a day when most players were struggling to hit fairways and greens, she kept it in play, and converted her birdie opportunities.

Congrats Jin Young. Was hoping for her today.

I gotta say, I'm definitely not looking for new players to be a fan of. I still think I'll be done, when the wave of players I totally adore is done playing. But, Jin Young has won me over. She's got this calm and precise game on the course that I really admire... and then off it she's totally sweet. So, didn't want to, but sign me up: she's a great player and a great personality!

Feel bad for Hyo Joo about that bunker, ugh, heart breaking moment. Hope she just moves on past it. She and SHP had surprising rounds.

Wish Mi Hyang had better luck on hers. Was very excited for her when she had the lead! She looks like she's having fun playing, and like Argonne mentions, love how she stays positive and handles adversity.

Didn't love how Lexi handled it here though. I just ... enh.

Inky was just one shot away from a top 10, pretty good recovery from a bad first day! MJ still having a great year too.

Ok, so reading this thread: has opinion changed on Evian? One year I remember at the start saying I liked it, and then everyone else was pretty gloomy about it. Snake-bitten and all. That was the same year it got cut way short for weather, and had that crazy round 1 wipe. It was _really_ in the doghouse as a tourney then. But it seems like the tougher features gave it something more this year. Which is a great quality for making it more solidly 'major'. Broadcast times atrocious. Scenery breathtaking. Weather a built-in threat. Has more of a Z-dimension to it than most, which is neat.

Well, I still like it. I admit In Gee's big win there is biasing me though; it'll always be a happy memory place for me.
