COBRA L4V - The BOMB!!!!

ROBOPTI

Recommended Posts

i just ordered a 9*l4V X and have my pro putting in a protopype 60 X shaft in it. I have a swing speed of 118 and a ball speed of 185 (+2 handicap) and am hoping that this combo will be putting me in places that my callaway 460X tour with proto vs X has never seen. My club should be here and be assembled in about 2 weeks and I hope the weather starts turning at about the same time. I will post pics and results when it gets here.
Hey question

With a SS of 107-115, is a Accra SC95 X too stiff to put in this head? I really like the club and even killed it with the stock shaft in it...
With so much love for the L4V, I'm suprised you haven't received an answer in under an hour. So I'll give it a try...personally I haven't had any experience with Accra shafts. Looking at the spec's on that particular shaft in an X...it shows that shaft comes in an M4, or M5 flex...looking at the corresponding CPM readings M4 = 280 & M5 = 298. Listed under Low Weight = 103 for both (I'm sure that's grams...so that's pretty heavy). The Torque #'s at 2.1 look good. The CPM's are pretty stout. Seems to me that shaft would be too heavy for the L4V head, which weighs about 208g.

Trust me, if I'm wrong about any of this, someone with far more knowledge in this area will hopefully chime in, and correct if need be. I guess it comes down to what you're used to, and finding a set-up similar that will produce the best results. The lighter tip stiff shafts seem to be working so far.
I think we all need to chip in on some flowers for Ramon/Golfware's wife so she'll let him buy a L4V and he can sleep again. He's been in our shop 3 nights a week hitting it.
For real, this kid even tried to gaff mine by throwing my headcover onto his 907D2 and putting it in my bag.

He's sick, folks

But yeah, the L4V is money. I am what you might refer to as "teebox-challenged" :clapping: , and I can actually hit fairways with this in the bag. It sounds AND looks like a cheap hooker, but it has to be the best driver I've hit in a long time.

Im going to get this soon.

Im only 17 and dont really swing too hard, i hit it about 230-240. Im working on it, trying to increase my distance and consistency in my swing. Since i want this for the LOOOOOOOOOOONG run, i want a shaft thats for 260-270 hitters.
Oh and my income doesnt allow for a whiteboard so, anything else that will maximize distance and accuracy that will stay under 100 for the shaft?(installation is free).

another question here...Does the speed tuning REALLY work? i mean if i change the shaft does it matter what head i use?

Traded in my R7 460 TP for a L4Vx 9.0 today. Played nine holes this afternoon and missed one fairway by 1 yard. And I've only been averaging about 5-6 fairways per round (I can scramble like no other to make par).

Distance is very good. Not a bunch longer than the 460 but a little bit, but much more forgiving. Hard to miss a fairway.

And VS Proto 65, though I might switch it out.

Good question as well. A lot of us are wondering if we might get away with reshafting with the stiffer tipped (compared to factory redboard) proto.

YOu Guys are killing me. I must get my hands on one. Is ther anyone who is not liking theirs? I have PP in hand.

NO we ALL like them .. It's too bad we like an UNKNOWN SPINNY SHORT MEDIOCRE HOOK BIASED AVERAGE NON-TOUR RETAIL MID-PACK driver

It's just a shame

If we could all wake up out of our collection ROBO-KOOLAIDE induced fog and realize that we aren't actually hitting it as far and straight as we are .. it would be better for our own good ..... 1_4_126.gif1_4_126.gif1_4_126.gif1_4_126.gif1_4_126.gif

i'm caught in the fog. . . called my club guy and have a l4v X/f7m2 LTD X coming. . . we'll see!

my hibore xl/altus lt has decided to hook like a cheap streetwalker, so i'll be glad to look down on something else anyway!

I have the SC 95X (M5) and I wouldn't recommend in this head. A shaft that heavy works is a head with a smaller sweet spot that is less forgiving so you lose swing speed to gain some control but I don't think you need that in this head. Not to mention again that it would feel like a sledge hammer with the heavy head. Stay in the 60, 70 and if you're strong maybe 80 but no heavier. Great shaft though.

Pro Launch Red or the new House of Forged white shaft should keep spin down. Both are very tight shafts.
Sounds good.

How about something like the black bimatrix or a NVS/NV aldila?

Whats the tip on the cobra's, i have a V2 on a driver at home but its 350. will it work?
I have tried all of those shafts. The bi-Matrix is an extreme low spin, low launch shaft. I had one in a 9° SMT Encore and I hit it long, straight, but really really low. The NV is more of a mid launch shaft. The NVS is a soft tip shaft that launches the ball high.

I am not too sure about the tip, but I think it is .335. If it is .350 just shim it.

It seems like an F speed 10.5 would work well with a prolaunch red or maybe a Grafalloy prototype NT?

Anything from graphite design that will hold up with the L4Vs heavy head?
I have heard the same thing but a lot of those guys have reshafted from the original 62g redboard by cobra so unless using something the same weight swingweight will be higher. I pressume cobra will have lighter heads available for heavier shafts etc etc. well they normally do on past and current product anhyhow ;)

Or am i wrong?
