Mixed Bag? Yes or No and how does a long time "single brander" break the habit?

Easy, you realize that no one OEM makes the best potential product for you (and in general) top to bottom.

Play whatever club works best. Mine is a mixture of TM driver, Callaway 3 wood, Titleist hybrids, PXG irons, Titleist wedges, PXG putter.

I've never found one single OEM that makes the best in class club (for me!) in all 14 slots. I'm not against it, but I haven't.

 

I've got 8 brands in there just now and they work fine.

 

It's a comparison of apples and oranges (which are both fruit) but the free agent pros named previously don't go single OEM so that's a good yard stick for variation.

I like my wedges and irons to be similar. If I was to play ping irons, I would give ping wedges a long try.

 

That said, every other situation is up for grabs.

 

If you do some testing you will find that each manufacturer has their strengths for YOU.

It’s hard to imagine not having a mixed bag. I like Titleist fairways but have never got along with the drivers. I like Callaway drivers but have never felt comfortable with the irons. I think its a natural progression in a bag.

This is a “funny” thing for me.

I believe in a best of the best bag. Hit 6 drivers pick the best, hit 6 3 woods pick the best and so on.

This gets me to, callaway driver, tour edge 3 wood Taylor made and titleist hybrids, Mizuno irons, ping wedges and Scotty putter. Now if I had to go to one brand I’d go titleist. Why? I don’t play much titleist, It’s mental thing and nothing is more mental than golfers.

As many posters have said, I play what I hit best during my fittings. My signature below shows this. To me, mentally it helps to know I am swinging the club that fits be the best with my swing.

Lol, that's great. I carried a lot in Oregon, and I wanted something fairly lightweight that could hold clubs and a full set of rain gear for 100+ rounds per year. I think I'd bought a Titleist bag that died within 3 months, and that was the end of Titleist accessories for me.

right...that's what I'm saying. I know their gear is full custom for the most part, but just addressing the topic of a mixed bag
