Power on the PGA Tour......

False. Because I know the difference in skill levels from best to worst. And I know that the field is bunched artificially. I don’t care what score they shoot. I care HOW they do it.

@bigred90gt

his stance is relative. Everyone has a ceiling , or a level of “easy” based on physical gifts. He comparing his game to those he knows can’t play Play to his level with his equipment , but are able to do so with today’s help. Wnd also comparing it to the game he grew up loving. It’s not a thing all unreasonable to make the comparison and have that opinion.

I am perfectly fine with bifurcation. Some people are against it, but if the powers that be feel the tour and elite competitive golf is going a direction they don’t like, I’m all for them changing those levels, as long as it doesn’t effect the rest of the world.

unfortunately, we all know it would eventually trickle down to us regular folks.

I played a course south of Dallas back in the 90's that had those in every fairway. Everyone hated them. It's closed now.

True. Which is why I’m for it. Eventually it would reset itself

but it would have to be choice. Right ? Just like now. You can choose to play a hot ball and hot driver if you want. They sell them all over the place online. Only reason people don’t is the pro aspect . If pros played illegal stuff ams would want to too.

If you're going to quote me get it right!

I said that a course 6500-7000 yards could host a pga tour event IMO, just look at Pebble beach.....

and that was to counter your ridiculous statement that courses will soon have to be 8000 yards to host a tournament.

The shortest courses on the PGA TourAT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Pebble Beach Golf Links, par 72, 6816 yardsThe RSM Classic, Sea Island Resort (Plantation), par 72, 6907 yardsAT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Monterey Peninsula CC, par 71, 6958 yardsAT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Spyglass Hill GC, par 72, 6960 yardsRBC Canadian Open, Hamilton Golf & Country Club, par 70, 6967 yardsMayakoba Golf Classic, El Camaleon GC, par 71, 6987 yardsThe RSM Classic, Sea Island Resort (Seaside), par 70, 7005 yardsCIMB Classic, TPC Kuala Lumpur, par 72, 7005 yardsSony Open in Hawaii, Waialae CC, par 70, 7044 yardsDesert Classic, La Quinta CC, par 72, 7060 yardsSomehow they still managed to crown a champion at these shorties.!!!!!!!!!!!

From playing at least once a week and practicing most days to playing once or twice a month and not practicing at all, together with less physical capability, shows the difference between my 18 handicap days and now.

Because equipment wasn’t out of control when they were in their prime. Old broken tiger is longer than the obvious best player to ever swing ( him in his prime ) is ? How does that make sense ? You’re proving my point.

Now you are just posting false information. Pebble plays over 7000 yards for the AT&T. So does the Seaside course at the RSM Classic. They use the Plantation course for just one of the four rounds.

Earlier in this thread I named about twenty courses too short for the Tour and we specifically discussed Pasatiempo, which is around 6500 yards.

You are spiraling downward with this discussion. You just quit while you’re behind

I played for a while before I had an official handicap (around 4 years I believe). My first handicap was around a 12 if I recall. Within another few years I had it down to a 2 (a traveling 2 competitive golf handicap, not just a club handicap if that makes sense). Then I had 2 back surgeries and couldn’t break 90 for the better part of a year. When I started posting scores again, it went back up to a 12, now I seem to have settled in around 6. I also do not practice anymore.

I still hold the opinion that if in 30+ years of playing this game, if you haven’t made it to low single digit index, you cannot claim equipment has made the game too easy. That is just a silly notion.

He stole that opinion from me. Lol I’ve said that for several years

I get what youre saying But . I also know that the trickle down effect would happen , and it’s would prove that the majority in your opinion isn’t as large as it seems now That’s been my point . Some don’t want to give up tech , but would to play inside the rules that the best players play by . And once they did they’d realize it’s not the bogey man it’s being made out to be .

Pros who play cavity back clubs:

John Rahm, Justin Rose, Steve Stricker. Here's some more: https://www.golfdigest.com/story/pga-tour-stats-the-numbers-say-these-five-players-and-the-irons-they-use-should-be-in-the-hunt-at-the-tour-championship

As well, making the argument that some enjoy more benefits from golf clubs than others and you don't think it's fair is absurd. If the clubs are considered legal,. and everyone has the same access, what's the problem? And, you as well reap a level of "enjoyment" in the clubs you play that have evolved over time, unless you play an ash shaft with a wooden head attached with a leather strap. Maybe there should just be one style of club, one lie angle, one shaft, etc. Than we will truly know who is the super-duperest of golfers.

Nobody said cavity back clubs. I said hollow body clubs. As in spring faces.

And justin rose hasn’t played a CB in several years. He played the 730 while still at TM and has a Honma blade with his name on it now. ( Rose proto) which is now for sale to the public.

Stricker played a titleist MB custom ground for him until the ap2 came out in 08 ish. After he got older and lost speed. Still not a hollow spring faced iron.

You are obviously a far superior golfer than I’ll ever be but I’ve never said that equipment makes the game too easy...just that modern equipment obviously makes the game easier (nobody can deny that) but at the same time makes it very one-dimensional.

Equating 30 years playing golf to improving to single figures to saying that equipment is not having an impact is the stupidest, most twisted logic I have ever heard.
