Odd box when quoting has popped up and TYPING LAG.

Typing lag is officially the worst it has been as of this moment than at any time since first reporting it.

I am using an iMac running Catalina 10.15.1 and Safari 13.0.7 and I have a typing lag of 6-10 characters since the new text editor went live. Not much of the change over to Vanilla has bothered me enough to comment on but this certainly does.

I just made a post in another thread...when I hit "quote" to reply to a post, nothing happened. So I went to the comment box and typed away, and it was NOT the new editor. Yet what I'm typing now IS in the new editor. Weird.

Annoying lag is back today as much as a full sentence in some cases when typing without pause. I also had my first experience with the run away backspace bar erasing a full sentence or more in an effort to remove a couple of words.

Another problem, it now turns pictures 90’, never did it before so what has happened.

Images are resized but orientation is not changed. I would double check the native look of the picture. Sometimes the image viewer will auto rotate them.

We are still in the gathering info phases and it is in the support que. Changes generally go through an extended process before pushing to production.

Using exactly the same Ipad and software I have always used on this site, never had a problem before and have uploaded dozens of pictures. The process is different to what it used to be, now it asks what size I want the picture to be and seems to miss part of what used to be the process, it is considerably different to before.

What is the size and resolution of the pic? Can you please provide exact steps done.

Ipad air two, safari browser. Pressed photo select in text box, selected photo, selected size, medium, selected done and picture came up in the text box.. can’t remember what it was now but before the process was completely different and never had a problem with the exact same equipment. Then tried again with the paper clip icon and the same procedure had the same result. Had this before on another site and had to put picture through a photo shop AP which stopped the rotation, will try later to see if it works again, problem is it more than trebles the time taken to upload a picture which normally is not a problem but sometimes it is a pest.

 

just talking to son who programmes for a living and he says sometimes the select size procedure can upset the picture orientation by removing or altering the code that keeps the picture vertical. It requires someone to ensure this code is not removed. iPads in particular are prone to this if it is not regulated.

Posted a picture without altering the size and it was correct, my problem solved but it will just tie up more space on the site.

All pictures are resized and downsized. Have you compared uploaded pics to the original?

Now the quote button does not want to work, been OK up to now.

what I mean is I ignore the change size option and only press done, the picture then comes up in the correct orientation, if I choose one of the change size options the picture rotates 90’ anti clockwise. The normal site post of my picture is OK, but if I choose a change size option it eliminmates part of the code that determines the picture orientation, my son said this is a common problem but easily fixable.

You stated you believe pictures are not being resized when uploaded. They should be automatically downsized. That is why I asked if you compared your original to the uploaded files. All pictures should be already compressing after a certain size.

Your programme is doing what it does when I upload a picture, that is resizing to whatever size your system wants it to be. There are two different situations.

 

1 I upload a picture press only done after selecting my picture and accepting whatever size the system gives me.

 

2 I select my picture and then use your resizing feature to upload a different size than the stock size your programme gives me automatically..

This is a screen shot after I have selected from my photo library, my options are select the bottom instruction to resize the picture, or select done to upload immediately. Selecting the resize option spins the picture, selecting done As my first option does not.

another problem came up as I was doing this, I wanted to upload the same screen shot with both options, it would not give me the resize option for the second upload.

This makes no sense to me, perhaps someone has an answer. No resize option for the second upload of the screen shot, but second upload of the tree gives me the resize option. Did not actually upload the picture as you can observe but the options were different for the actual photo and the screen shot which are stored in the same photo library.

lag went away for me as well but I got the newest ipad .... as the old one was too slow for all things

One comment on quotes, before the alterations it was possible to alter another members quotes, we used to do this for fun taking the mick out if each other, nothing nasty. Now the keyboard on an IPad will not come up when you try to enter a quote.
