New Ping G-series irons

Am I correct in thinking Ping's next G-series iron should drop in the summer of 2020? The G400s came out in July 2017 and the G410s came out in February 2019. They seem to be close to an 18 month cycle. Any Ping heads know if this is accurate?

I'm looking forward to seeing if they put the Glide 3 coat on the new irons since they performed so well when wet (see TXG experiment). Looking for every advantage I can get!

G410 already has the hydropear finish. What is Glide 3 coat?

Kind of doubt it. i Series and S series (iBlade) are due for replacement before the G's, and I don't see Ping releasing three irons in one year.

And both i and S is reportedly not being released until later in year.

I've only been told a g700 replacement 710 other than that nothing so far

product cycle or do they just release a new series when they feel they can improve on the

previous one?

correct. G710 is the next iron.

at least 18 month cycle. the s55 irons took 3 years to replace with iblades.

If you're talking about the 3.0 finish it's already on the 410's and will most likely be on the next generation.

Gotcha, I wasn't sure if it was the same or not. Never paid much attention to Ping for whatever reason (probably aesthetics if I'm being honest), but they're starting to make me take notice. They make some fun to hit sticks.

I see you play the G400 driver. Did you try the G410? I've read a lot of mixed reviews regarding the G410 not being a major upgrade to the G400. Curious on your take. Obviously I'll go get fitted, but was thinking about going with the G400 Max to save some bucks. I'm in the information gathering stage now though. If you have any personal feedback, I'd love to hear it.

i was at a demo days earlier this fall and talked to the Ping rep about the G400 and G410 drivers. I asked why no G410 Max.

His response was they tried but couldn’t make a G410 Max that was better than the G400. He also stated that Ping would

never introduce a model that is not better than the previous one. They don’t just release a new model, just for the sake of

doing it without the new product being better.

Yessir. From what I've heard it is black or darker at least, a hair smaller, but more forgiving...sign me up! Really hoping they don't badge it up with a bunch of colors, I hope it is clean like the 700 was/is. Merry Christmas!

Very clean. They took the little chrome stripe off the back. Black color looks like the finish from the glide stealth.

G700-710 is a hollow iron.

For the past 18 months I've enjoyed playing a set (4-SW) of G700 irons. The reason I bought them was it was the first set of over sized irons I had seen where the head shape-size did not look bulky. The reason for this is that (to my eye) the rounded-relatively-thin topline combined with a pronounced heel-to-toe slope gave the iron a graceful (not bulky appearance), which reminded me of the Ping Eye 2 iron model I had previously enjoyed playing.Most of Ping's recent iron designs have a more boxy (heel height similar to toe height) shape . For the new G710 model I hope Ping maintains the lines and shape of the G700.
