He got relief due to something in his way over to the left. I feel like the broadcast said it was a cable or something. It looked bigger from what I could see but I don't think it was actually in his way, I think he pulled some gamesmanship on the official.

Wow, Bryson's drive on #2 was incredible! Easy eagle putt followed. van Rooyen was with him on both holes toe to toe! Very fun to watch.

I'm curious why you have this opinion? This is simply just a FIR% stat, no? Somebody could miss a fairway by 3ft and actually be in a better position than they might have been in the fairway someplace else, say if they go into the first cut on the left hand side of the fairway to a right hand tucked pin, vs being in fairway over on the right hand side, blocked by trees. Driving accuracy is probably a fairly meaningless stat on this course.

Plus, isn't somebody by the name of GOAT pretty bad at hitting fairways, yet... probably the best iron player of our generation? If you can miss fairways but get the ball down, you deserve to win still. Getting out of trouble and playing shots, shaping the ball... these are all skills, just like hitting accurate tee shots.

I'm aware, and I agree with everthing that you said.....my only point is that the rough should be more penal if it is adventageos to be in said rough.... and in no way am I saying US Open rough.Just make it a penalty to be off line.
