Fujikura Pro IP 95i Graphite Shafts

So I’m taking the plunge and re-shafting my beloved Wilson Staff Model Blades. I’ve been researching these and like the fact they have some sort of fancy tip material that maintains swing-weights at a DG S300 level. If that’s the case I’m impressed and happy. I also like 2 iron blanks (not for everyone!) so I can manipulate the tips to fine tune flex/frequency before butt trimming. Note, this will not be a beginners tech build it’s going to take some time and patience but the end result should be sick, I hope!! So having said that, I was wondering if anyone has experience with these iron shafts and

might share some thoughts. I’m a diehard Aerotech Steelfiber guy and truth haven’t found anything better. I will update the project with pics and recommendations as it unfolds. Let’s hear it boys! BB

I'll be an interested follower...the "strategically placed high density core" sounds like it would make the ascending swingweight ( "poor man's moi" ) easier to do. The more each shaft is tipped the lower the balance point becomes....even when the 7 gram head weight and 1/2" length progression is used thru the set...

Will do, I agree this should be a fun build. I would LOVE to locate a set of RED bore pin plugs that harken back to the old fluid fills. That would really make them pop! I doubt they are out there I’ve been searching. Maybe I will call Wilson and beg but my guess they won’t even know what I’m talking about. BB

The smaller tip I.D. of the graphite shafts would make it possible to use red plastic tees. Epoxy in place , trim with a hot knife, finish it off to smooth and flush with acetone on a rag...done it a few times when I was out of pins....

That’s a very interesting idea! I need to grab a handful of plastic tees and fool around see what happens. Check these out, I could work them into a good shape before expoxy and polish. My question, will they hold up in a similar capacity??

I have only done it with traditional shaped tees...the softer flexible polyethylene type material that is very close to the same stuff that is used to make most ferrules.

I bought a pack of red Evolution tees since they are very durable and have a nice thick head. Let’s see what happens!

Finished the build. I did end up using the rubber tungsten plugs to achieve my desired SW in the D-4 range. I must say the quality of these shafts is extremely high. After I sorted them and manipulated the tipping ALL shafts had a CPM curve of 4cpm’s. That’s incredible even for steel! I’m super excited to play them Sat.

I will update performance on Sunday.

No need, I was able to pull the shafts without any damage to the plugs. It worked out perfect.

I’m looking at these also. I have a 115 TS in a 7 iron I’m testing. It’s too much shaft for me. Please keep us updated.

Been playing the 95i for over a season in my srixon 785s and love them, can still flight the ball and they feel great!

What flex? And what id your swingspeed? My first attempt at self fitting didn't produce a great result I am thinking. It's a shame there are absolutely no demo options in my area.

S-flex, swingspeed 103-105 with driver, with medium transition! I didn’t get to demo before I had them installed, I talked with my clubs guy quite a bit before getting them!

Sounds like we are about the same. I have a 95 S on the way to test. The 115 TS I started with was pretty stout. Thanks for the info.

Did you bore out the hosel or am I mistaken that the shafts only come in 0.370”?

Boring out is one option, but (unlike steel parallel shafts) it's also very easy to add a taper to the graphite tip.

Do NOT bore hosels! The shafts are very thick at the tip and tapering is quite easy to accomplish. Actually, it works well because you can customize the perfect fit. Trust me that’s all the shaft brands do when they produce a .335’T tip.

This is my 3rd season in these shafts. I have been very happy with them. Very solid with good feel and consistent results. I tried a bunch of different graphite shafts prior to landing on these, and these consistently produced the best results.

I have the pro85 in a set of Wilson heads as well (C200. Fantastic shaft. I was a Nippon 950 player for years and always seemed to match up well to the Fuji profiles for my Driver and FW. I had these installed 2 seasons ago and I will never go back to steel. They are smooth and consistent. I am typically a low ball hitter and I got a little more spin out of these shafts which has been very helpful. I shot my career low with these shafts. I still use steel in my 56 and 60. I have gone back and forth on the decision but for now I'm sticking with the steel.

Same shafts. The 75 gram and 95 gram offer the option of the IP finish in addition to the black.

I just dropped of my demo 7 iron at my club builder. Hopefully the 95S works out btter than the 115TS for me. I am worried about the overall weight being a little too light.

Any update on performance...what SF were you playing before and how do these compare? Are they as stout as Steelfibers? Thanks

I only have 27 holes at Firestone CC but so far I’m impressed. Very smooth, mid ball flight with nice tight shot dispersion. No flyers or weird outcomes. I would say a very smooth feeling SF with similar shot dispersion. My normal gamers are SF 95’s and I would say these play softer feeling but similar. Flex to similar flex the Fuji’s aren’t as stout. More to come after I have more time in warmer weather. BB
