Anyone have any intel on the conditions at Arrowood? I have a feeling that the walking only rule has dissuaded the faint of heart at that course...

If you haven't played TR, give it a try without a cart if they aren't letting them out. It's an easy walk.

I wish Tustin was a little more affordable. It's a fun course, got to play it for a work event once, but the price tag is too steep for what it is IMO. I prefer Tijeras and it can be had for a fraction of the price.

Agreed. I never play there for full price (and haven't played there since AG took over) and would choose a number of courses over it, instead.

Is Tustin Ranch owned by the city as Black Gold is? If so, it is the city dictates the price, not the management.

Another question regarding so cal courses - I feel slightly bad being an opportunist, but do we think there will be deals on joining any of the private clubs (edit: in the next 6-12 months, due to the economic fallout from covid)? My budget is pretty modest, but if I could get in somewhere like Mission Viejo for a reduced initiation i'd definitely consider it.

That's interesting.....I actually played 36 at Costa Mesa on Friday (18 on Lagos, 18 on Linda) and had a much better experience.

I usually avoid that place like the plague because of the cripplingly slow pace of play, but we got around Lagos in 4.5 hours (9:30am tee time), and Linda in just over 4 (finished right as the sun went down). I think social distancing did wonders because it meant they couldn't absolutely jam-pack the course with 5somes like they normally do.

Had to wear face masks around the club-house area but essentially ditched them once we got off the first tee. Course is in nice shape, greens much slower than usual.

Also, I played San Clemente Muni early Saturday morning (first day they re-opened).

It's in phenomenal shape. Unbelievable coverage on fairways and tee boxes - greens were much slower than normal but I'm hoping they can roll them a bit this week and get that sorted out.

They are only doing one tee time every 15 minutes so pace of play is great. We got around in under 4 hours. You book and pre-pay online through the city website. No pro shop, no snack bar.

The one thing that took away from the experience is no flag sticks. You just have to hit at the middle of the greens and hope. It's such an idiotic rule....if you physically don't need to take the flag stick out anymore to putt, why do you need to remove the flag? Makes it so much less enjoyable.

Just played Glen Ivy with @AG12 and had a blast!

solid conditions, course was in great shape. Only thing maybee was the top layer on the bunkers were a little hard, but everything else was awesome!

The tee box on the 18 was so high I almost got a bloody nose. this is looking down from the box and those green plants to the right aren’t bushes, they are full grown orange trees.

as SD military courses open, I anticipated Navy in Cypress to open soon but from the industry source told me otherwise. Funny how I havent played there for a good while but now I miss it. LOL

Rancho San Joaquin practice range is reservation ONLY with time limit. Stall time included in price of bucket, stall assigned when Resv is made. Mask all the time. Never seen such craziness. JC Resorts say Governor says its mandatory to take each patron's temperature as you walk on property - BULL, LIARS. If that were true ALL courses would be following the same rules, yet they are not. They will probably have some stoned cart boy administer.... no wait, hire an RN or MD to administer, sure. LOL

Played Goose Creek and Los Serranos North the other day with no problems. Both courses managed the process rather well. Goose is in great shape except greens are a bit slow. North Course was in nice shape too except they forgot to cut the fairways and rough is real testy, greens were really slow but looked nice. As a result, the North was playing a bit harder and when the wind came up in PM, OH BOY...

Newport Beach Golf Course just opened their pro shop (which i believe does repairs), and Hoover Golf Center as well has an open pro shop. Might give them a call for repairs

San Diego made it a point in their requirements to open that temperature be taken. From all of the emails from courses I got and playing twice over the weekend, courses are taking temperatures. Agree or disagree, I think the important thing to remember is the courses don't like some of the stipulations either. But they need the money and must do what is required because the alternative of being shut down is worse than the inconvenience.

No, Tustin Ranch is privately owned. There is zero mention of golf in the City of Tustin's 2020 Parks and Recreation Business Plan and Budget.

Played rams saturday morning and had a blast, not the easiest walk out there but manageable. I would strongly reccommend/remind anyone looking to play to make sure to check the forecast before booking. pretty common to see high 90s and triple digits this time of year

C'mon Sam! There's much better courses around than dos lagos. I played Goose on Sat, and we finished in 4 hrs, teeing off at 10:20, walking. It's like having the course to ourselves. Times are basically every 20 minutes. Let's get a round in.... it's been forever since we teed it up.
