SIM driver guys - talk about it

I’m enjoying OG SIM -10.5 with Ventus TR Blue 5S, just butt-trimmed an inch 45 to 44” and added a few more grams to the head.

Just found a brand new one in plastic locally. Picking it up tomorrow. Stealth 2+ might be in danger. Still haven’t hit either stealth as far as I’ve hit the original sim. Yes, they are more forgiving, but the Sim is a unicorn of high launch low spin fades if you can center it.

I've got a sim max d in 9° and 10.5°, 9 is lofted down a couple clicks so it's roughly 8° and I've lofted the 10.5 up 2 clicks so it's roughly 12°. The setup is working OK for me. I pretty much used my 3 wood mainly off the tee and the club ho itch started to build so I decided to finally try and find/build a cheap backup. I will say it does lack some feedback but at my level it doesn't matter.

It’s my lucky day.  Stumbled into a FB marketplace ad for a SIM 8° head in great shape for $50.  Now I get to tinker.  Feel like the 8° is going to hit some better windows for me.  LFG!

What a find! I looked at 50 used 8* sims before I found an almost mint one for $200. They are hard to come by these days.

Just be careful, there are fakes floating around.

Its likely real. Its very hard to tell in pics but look it over in person before you buy if you can.

Still using mine.  10.5*, one click to lower, weight in the toe, Ventus Blue 6 (X).  Leaving a couple yards on the table on perfect hits, but the toe miss on this driver might be the most playable of any club ever made.

There might be a crack in the weight track towards the heel. Pretty common and I doubt you'd see any performance loss from the crack there.

Picked up one of these drivers a couple months ago and threw my ventus black in it... I have to say, this thing is LONG.  And actually pretty accurate.  Still tinkering with the MKii ZX5 LS and the G430 LST but the SIM has some serious length to it, going to be tough to beat.  Actually shocked by this driver.

Also see what the backweight is… if it’s not stock, ask the guy if he changed it out.  The fake ones I’ve seen weigh a ton and it’s the backweight that gives it away.

And now i remember the best way to spot a fake. Those screws on the face.  Real ones have actual screws where fakes will be painted on.

Although I haven’t played in 3 years, I went out for 9 holes by myself a few times the past couple weeks.  The Stealth Plus for me is Meh.  Maybe it’s me, not sure the deep face is helping. I have an OG Sim I picked up over the winter but have only hit it at the range.  I like the look of the head a little better than the Stealth Plus.  I played a few holes today and hit the Stealth ok but not comfortably.  I took it out of the bag and replaced it with the OG Sim… see how it goes.

Both OG Sim 8* heads I've played weighed exactly 195g plus 6g adapter for 201g total. For 2 years I played the stock Diamana S+ 2nd gen 60x and the swing weight was D5 at 45.75". I just dropped down to a 50x shaft with a slightly lower balance point and swing weight was still D4.5. Stock head had 10g front and 10g back weight. I just swapped the back weight for a 6g to bring the swing weight down to D2.5 and could not be happier. Easier to swing and gained a little ball speed. First range session and round today went great. I know the 2/4/6/max usually weigh a few grams less and I previously had a ton of success with M2. I think I'm getting back to that feel. I hit the stock setup really well but always thought there was more in the tank. On our trackman range a smooth swing usually gets 152mph ball speed with range balls (2piece usually 1-2 mph slower than premium balls). New setup had me cruising at 155mph and about 5 yards of carry more. Stepped on a few and hit 160mph for the first time in over a year with a range ball.
