G400 vs MAX

At this point, I'm not sure it would be worth putting in any money into a Max when you already have a 400 vs just picking up a 410.  I only gamed a 400, hit the Max, and the 400 is more than forgiving enough and sounds better.

Basically, it’s exactly what gwelfgulfer has stated. Plenty forgiving for G400 and I don’t see much benefits in getting a G400 Max. My dispersion was bad before but since picking up a G400 with the stock Alta shaft, I have been hitting 80%-90% of the fairway consistently, even the misses aren’t that bad.

Any noticeable improvements for the 410 plus driver over the 400?

The main draw for the 410 is the adjustability range with the moveable weight. The 400 MAX is still the most forgiving driver out there and there is a reason it has not seen a "replacement" yet. That said, if you are someone that has a consistent miss on one side of the face, the 410 can offer some improvement there with the wide adjustability range, especially for guys that have the dreaded toe miss leading to the power draw/hook. The G400 standard though is still plenty forgiving and an awesome driver.

Don't think it makes too much sense to go from the 400 to the Max or the Max to the 400.  They are basically twins with the Max being a little more hefty.  The Max may be marginally more forgiving with the 400 sounding better.  Either way, these are two exceptional drivers that continue to deliver.

My vote is also to stick with the 400 and wait to see what the story is with the 425s. PING being PING they are unlikely to release a new Max without it being even more forgiving than the previous one.

Throw in the new draw and fade weight system and the 12 degree loft option and the new Max should fit far more people.

agree with GolfTurkey - wait until the G425 comes out and see what they offer as a replacement for the G400Max.  I have never hit the G400 as I went from the G to the G400Max.  the Max is an exceptional driver in terms of forgiveness.  I gave up a bit of distance going to the Max from the G but I hit way more fairways and my misses are not as punishing.  if there is a better performing Max coming out I'll be very interested in checking it out.

the G400Max will go down in golf history as a deadset classic.

you lost distance going from a G to a 400 Max? what the...??? was thinking of getting a 400 Max when Ping starts shipping stuff again next month, but you have made me ponder that decision with that comment.

I am not even tempted to move on from my max. I played an event Sunday and was 14 for 14 fairways hit the only ones I did not hit were the par 3s. I have had this driver for 2 years and still in love with it. I am 68 years old and I played two guys 30 years younger than me and I was longer and much straighter than both of them. It was a young guys vs old guys grudge match old guys won. We started  out from the gold tees but after the third hole they cried so much because I was going so far past them we had to finish from the whites. Guess what I was still longer they stopped talking smack and showed proper respect after the match lol. My buddy has a 410 is younger than I am and is still 20-30 yards behind my max. I will look at the new one when it comes out but it will have to be real special for me to move on from my max!!!
