I liked the standard Rogue and the Rogue Pro. Had I bought irons in 2018, would have gone with mainly Pros with lightweight shafts. Didn't care for the Rogue X, too much range  overlap from iron to iron.

For me, I'm looking to move to graphite shafts in irons.  Got to test out some Mavrik clubs twice in February. First reaction - I'm not overly excited by the orange trim.

The Mavrik Pro was a bit too much for me. Between the other two Mavs, a curious experience! The Max irons have three degrees higher loft than the standard Mavrik. That said, the Max flew higher and about 8 yards longer than the Mavrik. Both used the same Catalyst shaft.

In comparing the two club lines, I place the standard Mavrik as closer to the Rogue X than the Rogue.

At various points the past year I played Rogue X, regular Mavrik, and the Mavrik pros. Rogue X were trouble since the lofts messed up my wedge set up. Regular Mavrik were ok, for me not great, not terrible. The Pros were pretty nice, but I needed a touch more forgiveness. Rogues had graphite, both Mavrik sets were stock steel. I know (like ChipNRun) the Mavrik Max lofts are not Rogue X - they are intended to get the ball in the air not so much just a distance iron. If I was set on Callaway, I might opt for the regular Rogue irons.

I just dont get the point of 3 models when the reg mav and reg rogue are allready super forgiving in every way. The pros kinda became the regular irons. I know there are plenty of golfers that need help and forgiveness but i think they are over doing it sometimes... like 4 different sets that are mega forgiving within the season... is there really a need for that? Cant 1 per year do?

My preference are the Mavrik irons. There very very user friendly. Point and shoot 8 thru AW . 7? Not quite there but it’s me not the club.

I used to play the Steelhead XRs, they were great irons.  This year I demo'd the Mavrik and Mavrik Pro's, but I couldn't hit them for crap.  I ended buying the Apex cf 19s instead.  To be honest, I wanted very much to like the Apex irons and didn't want to like the Mavriks, so maybe that had a little to do with it.  But the Apex performed just as good as my Steelheads and felt a ton better.  Move on to a month and 20 rounds of golf later, I still like the Apex.

The Mavriks (both the regular and the pro) just felt harsh.  I never felt like I hit the ball in the sweet spot, and maybe I didn't.

I play the rogues and have hit the mavriks. For feel both are kind of eh.... But i hit the rogues really good. Good enough that they knocked the G25s out of the bag...didn't think that would happen during my fitting. Don't plan on changing them anytime soon...I feel the big shovel rogues are super underrated and easily could go into many peoples bags.

Going back to the days of the X18/20/22, RAZR X, and with Steelhead XR and Rogue, Callaway has always had a solid GI iron option.  I think they sort of dropped the ball this year with the standard Mavriks due to the wonky lofts.  I had some Callaway credit, so I had the opportunity to try out a number of their irons this season out on the course, and return the ones I didn't like.

The Mav Max irons were just too big and the offset was simply too much.  Didn't hit them all that well anyway.  The Mav Pros are a nice iron, but were a little too unforgiving for me.  The standard Mavriks looked fine to me, and played ok, but just didn't click.  I know they have a design reason to go with the very strong lofts, but not sure why other companies are able to make GI irons with more typical lofts.  In any event, I did not love the Mavriks.  So, that was that for the Mavrik line of irons--no goldilocks for me.

Now, the Apex 19 was where I settled with Callaway.  Those irons, Callaway definitely got right.  A terrific blend of feel, forgiveness and looks that can please and perform for a wide range of golfers.  YMMV.

Good decision.  Apex irons are some of the best overall irons around.  Strong, forgiving but just enough good shaping to them to appeal to a lot of folks.  And they're on 2-3 year product cycles so you just "feel better" about them being in the bag in my opinion.

With the Mavrik and Rogue they just flip flopped things around... the Rogue Pros were pretty well received and I'm sure the Mavrik Pro is good (cheaper, slightly less visually appealing Apex IMO.  Both are Cup Face irons but the Apex has a 'forged' body).

With Rogue and Rogue X - the Rogue X was bigger (more "forgiving" and super stronger lofted) compared to the Rogue.

With Mavrik the regular was super strong lofted while the MAX was the biggest but not as super strong lofted.

Lofting is confusing on the Mavrik line. Max has more loft, combined with thicker sole, most likely moving CG low and back, makes them super easy to hit high. Mavrik, for me, went a mile, but couldn't get optimal height.

To me, Rogue was similar to the regular Mavrik, went far, but not enough height.

Probably a toss up on feel in my opinion.

I’ve been playing the Apex 19 since April and they are very impressive. I wanted to get a little more distance with my irons as my Mizuno were about a club and half shorter. I thought the stronger lofts might bring the ball in too low but the Apex launch nice and high for me and stop where i need them to.  Couldn’t be happier with the Apex 19. Solid iron.

The Mavrik pro are great sticks, played them almost all season, they feel nice when struck properly, nice crisp feel with a great sound. Distance control is excellent for a cast iron.

i am keeping for sure, but will see if they can hold off the new 921F coming.
